Product description
Black plastic container with white lid, 1 l combines an opaque PET container with a wide neck, a white screw lid and a sealing membrane in one pack for larger volumes of both creamy and loose products. The black plastic hides the contents, so it is also suitable for recipes that benefit from protection from light. The plastic set is lightweight, which you will appreciate with a one-litre volume both during transport and in everyday handling in the workshop or bathroom.
The set as a whole is approved for direct contact with food and is also declared suitable for cosmetic products. The container, lid and membrane each have their own declaration of conformity; you will find them with the individual components.
Container, lid and membrane together
The container has a wide neck, through which thick mixtures can be comfortably filled with a spatula and scooped out with fingers or a spoon. The lid is made of polypropylene and screws directly onto the thread of the container, without any adapter rings. The pack includes a white foam plastic membrane, which is inserted into the lid and pressed against the rim of the neck when tightened. This seals the joint between the lid and the container and prevents the contents from reaching the thread when the container is tilted.
The lid can be unscrewed and screwed back on at any time, and the membrane stays in the lid. With thick mixtures, such as butters or scrubs, the joint holds. For thin or liquid fillings, we recommend checking the tightness with your specific recipe, for example by laying the filled container on its side on a clean sheet of paper.
What it is suitable for
- Body butters and balms – the wide neck allows you to scoop out the mixture without tilting the container.
- Sugar and salt scrubs – coarse particles are easier to scoop from a one-litre container than from a narrow one, and the black plastic hides any oil separation.
- Bath salts and loose blends – a volume of one litre is enough for a larger family pack or for keeping stock in the workshop.
- Hair and body masks – thick emulsions and masks that are applied by hand or with a spatula.
- Dry foods – teas, herbs, nuts, dried fruit or coffee beans, as the set is approved for contact with food.
- Intermediate products in production – for example a finished salt blend, cooled wax for candles or soap flakes before further processing.
Thin liquid products, such as tonics or pourable oils, are better suited to a bottle with a narrow neck. A container of this shape is intended for contents that are scooped, not poured.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the membrane in the lid and for any expansion of the contents, for example when body butter softens in the warmth. The container is filled up to the nominal volume, not right up to the brim. If it were filled up to the neck, the contents would be pushed into the thread when the lid is screwed on and would soil the membrane.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the container, lid and membrane, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. With cosmetics, residual moisture in the thread or under the membrane would get directly into the product.
The container is made of PET and should be protected from heat. Pour body butters, balms or waxes in only after they have cooled to a temperature close to room temperature, not straight from the pot.
The material of the container should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For recipes with a high proportion of concentrated essential oils or with solvents, we recommend first filling the container as a test and checking the wall and the membrane after a few days.
Once empty, the container and lid can be washed in warm water with washing-up liquid and used again. With repeated filling, check whether the membrane is swollen or cracked and replace it with a new one if necessary. For repeated use with cosmetics, repeat the disinfection.
You can use the same container for a homemade scrub and for storing tea. The set is confirmed as suitable for both cosmetics and direct contact with food.
The container is made of PET and the lid of polypropylene; once empty, both belong in plastic waste. Remove the membrane from the lid before sorting, as it is a different type of plastic. Lids with the same type of thread and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness with your specific formulation.
