Product description

The clear plastic jar with a volume of 500 ml and a white lid is a complete set designed for packaging larger quantities of cosmetics and food. The clear body made of PET shows the colour and texture of the contents, is lightweight and does not shatter when dropped, which is an advantage over glass both for shipping and for everyday use in the bathroom. The white lid made of polypropylene has a white sealing membrane on the inside that seats against the neck and improves the seal. The set is therefore also suitable for contents that need to be protected from drying out or moisture.

Thanks to the wide neck, the jar is easily filled with a spatula or spoon and the contents are just as easily scooped out. The entire set is approved for direct contact with food and for use with cosmetic products. It can be used for body butters and scrubs as well as for home dry blends or spreads.

Why choose this set

  • Clear body – both customer and manufacturer can see the colour, texture and remaining quantity of contents without opening.
  • Shatter-resistant material – PET is lightweight and impact-resistant, suitable for shipping and for use in the shower or by the bath.
  • Lid with membrane – the white insert in the lid improves the seal at the neck, reducing drying out of contents and moisture ingress.
  • Wide neck – makes it easier to fill with thick substances, scoop out contents and clean for repeated use.
  • Food and cosmetics – the jar, lid and membrane all have declared suitability for direct contact with food and cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

The 500 ml volume and wide neck make this set ideal for thick and loose-fill products where the contents are dispensed by hand or with a spatula:

  • body butters and whipped butters in large family-size packaging or for salon use,
  • salt and sugar scrubs, coffee scrubs and body masks,
  • bath salts, fizzing powders, milk baths and loose herbal blends,
  • clay and mud masks in dry and paste form,
  • hair masks and conditioners with a thick consistency,
  • food such as honey, dried herbs and spices, nuts, granola, home-made spreads or confectionery,
  • production semi-finished materials, such as pre-weighed loose components, salts or powders for a single batch of a formula.

For thin liquids such as tonics, oils or facial waters, a bottle with a narrow neck and a suitable dispenser is more appropriate. The set with a screw-on lid seals well for normal storage and transport, but for liquid contents we recommend verifying the seal beforehand.

Nominal and total volume

For each container we state two volumes. Nominal volume is the volume for which the jar is intended for normal filling and which is stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a margin for the lid with membrane and for the expansion of contents when the temperature changes. Fill the jar to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents will push out the membrane when closing, or reach the thread, and the lid will no longer seal properly.

Good to know

Before first filling, we recommend washing the jar and lid, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. The membrane in the lid does not need to be removed for cleaning — simply rinse the lid and dry it.

Fill thick substances such as body butters and scrubs into the jar only after they have cooled to room temperature. Hot substances can deform PET and additionally shrink when cooled, making the jar appear underfilled.

PET is well resistant to water, vegetable oils, salts and common cosmetic raw materials. For formulas with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking the material's behaviour with the specific formulation beforehand. Some concentrated ingredients may cloud or soften the plastic over time.

The clear body lets light through. For light-sensitive products, such as those with a high proportion of unsaturated oils or natural pigments, store filled jars away from direct sunlight or choose an opaque container.

The smooth cylindrical shape labels well. After thorough washing and drying, the jar can be refilled. At end of life, the PET jar and PP lid belong in sorted plastic recycling, ideally separately.

Replacement lids with the same neck type are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 500 ml plastic jar with white lid suitable for food?
Yes, the entire set is approved for direct contact with food. All three components have declared suitability — the clear jar, the white lid and the membrane inside the lid. It is suitable for honey, dried herbs, spices, nuts, granola or home-made spreads. The declaration of conformity is available to download on the product page.
Does the 500 ml plastic jar seal with liquid contents as well?
For thick substances and loose-fill products the set seals reliably; for thin liquids we recommend verifying the seal. The white membrane in the lid seats against the neck and improves the seal against drying out and moisture. For oils, tonics or facial waters, a bottle with a narrow neck and a dispenser is more appropriate, as the contents will not spill when opened.
Can hot body butter be filled into a PET plastic jar?
No, the substance must be allowed to cool to room temperature before filling. PET is sensitive to higher temperatures and hot contents can deform or cloud it. Whipped butters and balms also shrink on cooling, so a jar filled while hot will appear underfilled. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
Is a clear PET jar suitable for light-sensitive products?
The clear jar does not protect contents from light, so for sensitive formulas it must be stored away from sunlight. Products with a high proportion of unsaturated oils, natural pigments or certain active ingredients may lose colour and quality more quickly when exposed to light. If the container will be exposed to light for extended periods, choose an opaque or dark alternative.
How is the 500 ml plastic jar cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, both the jar and the lid can be reused after thorough washing. Before the first and each subsequent filling, we recommend washing them with warm water and dish soap, rinsing, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. The membrane in the lid does not need to be removed — simply rinse the lid and dry it.
Are scrubs and bath salts suitable for the plastic jar?
Yes, salt and sugar scrubs and bath salts are among the most suitable products for this set. PET is resistant to salts, sugar and vegetable oils, and the wide neck allows comfortable scooping by hand or with a spoon. The membrane in the lid limits moisture ingress, which would cause salt or sugar to clump. The 500 ml volume corresponds to standard packaging for home and salon use.
