Black Shiny Plastic Bottle, Black Lotion Pump With Matte Gold Collar, 200 ml

A glossy black PET bottle with a matte black and gold pump forms complete packaging for cosmetics dispensed by pressing: body lotions, lighter creams, shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps or massage oils. The opaque black plastic protects the contents from light, and the glossy surface of the bottle together with the matte gold pump gives the packaging a look that holds up even on a counter. The 200 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size for body and hair care products, lasting several weeks of use.

Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle alone also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the pump does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

• Body lotions and emulsions – a liquid to medium-thick consistency passes through the pump without problems, and there is no need to scoop it out of a jar with your fingers.
• Shower gels, shampoos and liquid soaps – a bottle with a pump can be operated with one hand in the shower or at the sink.
• Massage and body oils – PET is light and unbreakable, which you will appreciate with oils in the bathroom more than you would with glass.
• Cleansing and make-up removal products – the contents do not touch your hands and the dose always stays the same.

How the set works

The pump screws onto the bottle’s 24/410 neck finish and the dip tube reaches down into the contents. Each press dispenses approximately 1.3 ml of product. That is the amount for one portion of hand cream or for spreading lotion over a forearm; for the whole body you press two or three times. With thicker formulations, for example creams with a stiffer consistency, the pump draws the contents with more difficulty and the dose tends to be smaller. You should therefore check how your finished formulation behaves in the packaging before you fill an entire batch.

The 24/410 neck is a widespread format, so in the Handymade range the bottle can also be combined with other closures of the same neck type. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Nominal volume and filling headroom

The nominal volume of 200 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference serves as headroom for the pump’s dip tube, which takes up part of the volume when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim, otherwise the product will overflow when the pump is fitted.

Good to know

The bottle and the pump are intended for common cosmetic formulations, emulsions, surfactant bases and vegetable oils. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend testing compatibility on a single piece first. Do not expose the plastic to aggressive chemicals. Do not fill the bottle with a hot mixture; let the emulsion or gel cool to room temperature first.

After the contents are used up, the set can be washed and filled again. When switching to a different type of product, for example from an oil to a shampoo, rinsing the pump with ethanol helps to prevent residues of the previous contents from mixing with the new ones.
