Product description
A ready-made set for toners, hydrosols and other liquid preparations that are applied as a fine mist. It consists of a glossy black PET bottle with a nominal volume of 200 ml and a matte black 24/410 mini trigger sprayer with a smooth collar. It is suitable for facial toners, hydrosols, hair sprays, refreshing body sprays or alcohol-based sprays for hands and surfaces. The opaque black plastic keeps light away from the contents, which helps hydrosols, aqueous solutions of active ingredients and preparations with essential oils, which lose their scent and stability faster when exposed to light.
The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, so it is suitable for the bathroom, a handbag, travel, and for selling and shipping finished products. The glossy body of the bottle is complemented by a matte sprayer with a smooth collar without any protrusions, so the set looks coherent. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
How the set dispenses
The mini trigger sprayer works with a pump that draws the contents up through a tube when pressed and pushes them out through the nozzle as a dispersed mist. One press releases approximately 0.35 ml, so it is easy to estimate how much of the preparation is used per application and how long the contents will last. The mist spreads evenly over a larger area, so less of the preparation is used than when applying by hand or with a cotton pad.
The sprayer is designed for thin, watery liquids. Toners, hydrosols, solutions in water and in alcohol, or very light hair sprays pass through the nozzle without any problem. Gels, emulsions and thick serums either will not spray at all, or they produce a stream instead of a mist and gradually clog the nozzle.
What it is suitable for
- Facial toners and hydrosols – watery preparations that are applied directly to the face as a mist, without the hands coming into contact with the contents.
- Hair sprays – water-based detangling sprays and low-viscosity refreshing mists for hair and scalp.
- Alcohol-based sprays – disinfectant sprays for hands, sprays for yoga mats and surfaces, and alcohol-based air and fabric fresheners.
- Body sprays – scented body mists, cooling foot sprays, salt solutions for hair and similar preparations without thickeners.
- Production aids – alcohol for spraying the surface of cold process soap, or distilled water for moistening the cosmetic mixture.
Nominal and total volume
The 200 ml figure is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Physically, the bottle holds more when filled up to the neck. However, this total brimful volume is a reserve for the sprayer tube, the air above the surface and the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. A preparation filled up to the neck will overflow when the sprayer is screwed on.
Good to know
- Preparation before the first filling – wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. After disinfection, spray clean water through the sprayer several times so that no residues remain in the tube and the nozzle.
- Priming the pump – after filling, press the sprayer several times without spraying onto anything until the tube fills and the mist becomes even.
- Opaque packaging – the level of the contents cannot be seen from outside. When filling several bottles, it is worth measuring the contents with a measuring cup or weighing them, and stating the fill volume when selling.
- PET and essential oils – with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing how the bottle behaves with the finished preparation over several weeks. Watch for the smell of plastic, clouding and deformation of the wall.
- Repeated use – after thorough washing and drying, the set can be filled again. When changing the preparation, bear in mind that the fragrance or alcohol may linger in the tube and the nozzle for a while.
- Other closures – the bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, so other closures with the same neck finish from the Handymade range also fit it. If you create your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. Before disposal, unscrew the sprayer and rinse the bottle.
The sprayer tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Cut it at an angle so that it reaches just above the bottom of the bottle. The pump will then draw up the contents right to the end and will not draw in air.
The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, while the sprayer does not, so the set is intended for cosmetic and technical preparations.
