Product description
The blue glass bottle with a white dropper is a ready-made set for serums, face oils and tinctures that are dispensed by the drop. Blue glass filters out part of the light, which helps with contents sensitive to sunlight, for example oils prone to oxidation or serums with active ingredients. The volume of 50 ml corresponds to the usual pack size of a face serum or face and beard oil, so you can use it for homemade products as well as for small batches for sale. The bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
- Face and hair serums – the dropper dispenses a precise number of drops; with concentrated formulations this prevents waste and helps apply the product evenly.
- Face and beard oils – a small amount is enough for one application, and dispensing by the drop suits this.
- Oil blends with essential oils – the glass tube and the body of the bottle come into contact with them without changing the fragrance.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – the glass tube of the dropper tolerates alcohol solutions as well, and tinctures are commonly used by the drop.
- Samples and test batches – with 50 ml you can try out a formulation or divide a larger batch into smaller packs.
How the set works
The medicine bottle shape with a straight body and a narrower neck stands well on a shelf and is comfortable to hold in the hand when dispensing. The dropper consists of a white cap with a silicone bulb and a glass tube that reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle. The content can therefore be drawn up even at a low level, and only a minimum remains in the bottle.
The closure has a tamper-evident ring. When the bottle is opened for the first time, the ring separates from the closure, so it is visible at a glance whether the packaging has already been opened. For products for sale or gifting, you thus have a tamper check without any additional film or seal.
Mainly glass comes into contact with the content, that is, the body of the bottle and the tube of the dropper. With highly concentrated essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the silicone bulb and the plastic closure behave with your particular formulation.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve that is taken up by the dropper tube once the dropper is screwed on and that gives the contents room for temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
When filling, leave free space in the neck for the dropper tube. If you fill the bottle to the brim, part of the contents is pushed out through the neck when you screw on the dropper and soils the thread, which impairs the seal.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or on the bulb would get into an anhydrous product and could affect its stability.
Glass withstands washing in warm water, but do not expose it to sudden temperature changes, for example hot water straight after taking it out of a cold place. Let the hot oil phase or freshly melted butters cool before filling. The dropper can be reused after washing and drying. Before the next filling, check that the bulb holds its shape and the tube is not cracked.
With the same neck type, the bottle can also be combined with other closures from the Handymade range; you will find ready-made sets in the range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the dispensing with your particular content.
Blue glass dims light but does not block it completely. Keep products with sensitive active ingredients, for example with vitamin C or retinol, away from direct sun in this bottle as well.
