Product description

The glass pharmaceutical bottle with safety dropper is used for filling and dispensing liquid cosmetics drop by drop. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so you can see at once how much is left and whether any cloudiness or sediment has appeared. The black dropper closure has a safety lock that makes accidental opening more difficult, which you will appreciate with concentrated raw materials and fragrances.

The set consists of a bottle with a threaded neck and a dropper with a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a plastic closure. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The 30 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size for a serum or facial oil.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial serums and concentrates of active ingredients – the dropper takes up only a few drops, and the rest of the contents stays in the bottle without unnecessary contact with air and fingers.
  • Facial, hair and nail oils – the oil is dispensed precisely onto the palm or directly onto the skin.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – the glass tube withstands even strongly aromatic substances, and the safety lock on the closure prevents the bottle from being opened accidentally.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass resists alcohol, and the colour of the extract is visible through the clear wall.
  • Samples of your own formulations – the smaller volume is used up quickly during testing, and after cleaning the bottle can be used again.

Dispensing with the dropper

After unscrewing, the dropper is lifted out of the bottle together with the liquid it has drawn up. Squeezing the silicone bulb pushes the liquid out one drop at a time, and releasing the bulb draws up a new portion. With thicker oils a drop forms more slowly, with alcohol-based and water-based contents more quickly, so try out the dispensing of your particular formulation first.

Try opening and closing the closure with the safety lock on an empty bottle. You will get to know its resistance before you fill it, and you do not have to risk spilling the contents.

Volume and filling

Nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. Brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve into which the glass tube of the dropper dips after screwing on, and in which the contents can expand when the temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, part of the contents is pushed out through the thread when the dropper is inserted, and the closure then becomes sticky or does not seal.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. It is enough to rinse the silicone bulb, as long-term soaking in alcohol is not good for it. With pure essential oils and solvents, we recommend checking how the bulb behaves with the particular raw material. The glass tube and the bottle have no problem with them.

Clear glass lets light through. The set is therefore suitable mainly for contents that are not affected by light, or for products stored in a box or a dark cupboard.

Oils prone to oxidation and light-sensitive active ingredients change faster in clear glass. For such formulations, choose amber or blue glass, or keep the clear bottle out of the light.

Do not pour hot contents into the glass; let them cool down first. A sudden change of temperature can damage the glass, and after cooling the contents drop in level, so the bottle would look underfilled. After thorough cleaning, both the pharmaceutical bottle and the dropper can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, we recommend replacing at least the dropper, because silicone can retain the scent of the previous contents.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your particular formulation. For recycling, the bottle goes into glass waste. The dropper consists of plastic, glass and silicone, so take it apart before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass pharmaceutical bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is suitable for oils and serums with a stable composition, or for products stored in a box or a cupboard. For light-sensitive contents, such as oils prone to oxidation, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
Why must the 30 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle not be filled to the brim?
The 30 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle is filled to the nominal volume because the glass tube of the dropper dips into the contents after screwing on and needs space. The brimful volume is higher than the nominal volume, but this reserve serves the dropper and the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled up to the neck, part of the contents is pushed out through the thread.
Is the safety dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, both the glass tube and the glass bottle withstand pure essential oils. With the silicone bulb, we recommend checking the behaviour with the particular oil, especially with citrus and spicy fragrances. The safety lock on the closure also makes accidental opening of a concentrated fragrance more difficult.
Can the glass pharmaceutical bottle with dropper be reused?
Yes, after washing and disinfection with alcohol, both the bottle and the dropper can be used again. It is enough to rinse the dropper, and the bulb should not be soaked in alcohol for a long time. When switching to a different fragrance or formulation, it is sensible to replace the dropper, because silicone retains scent.
Can a closure other than the dropper be used with the 30 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle?
Yes, the bottle has a threaded neck, and closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters will fit it. In the Handymade range you will also find ready-made combinations for this neck type. With your own combination, check the seal and the dispensing with your particular contents beforehand.
