Product description

Glass dropper bottle 5 ml is a complete packaging and closure set for products dispensed drop by drop: facial serums, oil concentrates of active ingredients, essential oil blends, tinctures, or samples during recipe development. The dropper with its glass tube measures out exactly as much as needed, and the small bottle volume corresponds to the amount typically consumed with such products.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is also suitable for presenting samples and small gift sets.

Key benefits

  • Drop-by-drop dispensing – the glass tube picks up a small amount and releases it drop by drop precisely where needed, without spilling. For concentrates where small quantities are used, this is essential.
  • Glass with no effect on the contents – it does not react with oils, essential oils, or alcohol-based solutions, making it suitable even for contents that could damage regular plastic.
  • Small volume – with expensive active ingredients and test batches, only as much as will be used is filled, with no unnecessary residue.
  • Contents visible – clear glass shows colour, cloudiness, or sediment, making product inspection easier.
  • Neutral appearance – the white glossy dropper can be combined with various labels and packaging styles.

How the set works

The dropper consists of a threaded plastic collar, a silicone bulb, and a glass tube. The collar screws onto the bottle like a regular cap. The tube reaches almost to the bottom, so the contents can be drawn up even at a low level. Squeezing the silicone bulb draws the contents into the tube and dispenses them drop by drop where needed.

The bottle has a nominal volume, meaning the volume it is designed for during normal filling, and a total volume to the brim, which is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube when inserted into the bottle and for any expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. It should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the dropper is fitted.

When filling small bottles, a small funnel or a disposable syringe without a needle works well. The contents are filled precisely and the neck stays clean, which is important for the seal of the thread.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums and oil concentrates – dispensed drop by drop, and the small volume limits contact with air during repeated opening.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – glass does not absorb them or alter their scent, and the dropper makes precise measurement into a recipe easier.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – alcohol does not damage glass, and drop-by-drop dispensing corresponds to how tinctures are typically used.
  • Samples and test packagings – during recipe development or when sending samples to customers, 5 ml is a practical size.
  • Cuticle oils, eyebrow and eyelash care – products where only a few drops are applied.

Good to know

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store light-sensitive products in the dark or in a box. If the product is to stand on a shelf in the light, a brown or blue glass bottle is more suitable.

Cleaning and reuse. Before first filling, wash the bottle and dropper, rinse with clean water, and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For the tube, rinsing by drawing alcohol through it a few times is sufficient. Allow all parts to dry completely so that residual water does not get into the product. After thorough cleaning, the bottle can be used again. If the silicone bulb of the dropper has changed shape or colour, replace the dropper.

Fill the contents when cooled. Small bottles do not handle a sudden temperature difference between hot product and cold glass well, and the dropper should not be inserted into hot contents.

For a 5 ml volume, a narrow label with the most essential information and a QR code or link to details works well.

Recycling. The glass bottle goes in the glass recycling bin. Separate the dropper before recycling, as it combines plastic, silicone, and a glass tube.

When combining the bottle with a different closure of your own choice, verify the seal, dispensing, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation. Further closures with the same neck type and ready-made packaging and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range.

Frequently asked questions

Does a transparent 5 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass allows light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is suitable for products where you want to show the colour and clarity, or for contents that are not sensitive to light. Serums with sensitive active ingredients, oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, certain vitamins, and essential oils should be stored in the dark in this bottle, or brown or blue glass should be chosen.
How much is actually filled into a 5 ml glass dropper bottle?
It is filled to the nominal volume of 5 ml, not to the brim. The total volume of the bottle up to the neck is greater, but this difference is a reserve for the dropper tube, which when inserted displaces some of the contents upwards, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If filled to the brim, the product would overflow when the dropper is fitted.
Is a glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based tinctures?
Yes, glass does not react with essential oils or alcohol, so it is suitable for such contents. Attention should be paid to the silicone bulb of the dropper, which may soften or discolour with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, verify the dropper's behaviour on a sample and store the bottle upright.
Is a 5 ml dropper bottle suitable for water-based products, such as a toner?
Yes, glass is suitable for water-based contents, but preservation is important. The dropper tube comes into contact with air and skin with each use, so a water-based product requires a reliable preservation system. Anhydrous oils and concentrates are less demanding in this respect.
What is the glass dropper bottle intended for – can it be used for food?
The set is intended for cosmetics and is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not certified for contact with food, so it is not suitable for home-made oils, syrups, or other food products. The declaration of conformity and packaging documentation can be found with the product.
