Clear Glass Bottle, Black Cap, 5 ml

A clear glass bottle with a black cap, 5 ml is a small complete packaging and closure designed for samples, test batches and concentrated preparations used in small quantities. Clear glass lets you see the contents, making it suitable where the colour or clarity of the preparation is part of the impression. A simple plastic cap closes the bottle without any dispensing elements. This volume is most commonly used to fill essential oil blends, fragrance oils, serum and facial oil samples, or small quantities of tinctures and extracts for cosmetic use. The bottle has a vial shape – a straight cylinder with a narrow neck that fits comfortably even in a small hand and stands stably.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Neither the bottle nor the cap has a food contact certificate, so the set is intended exclusively for cosmetic and technical use, not for food purposes.

What the set offers

• Glass with no reaction to the contents – glass does not absorb fragrances or dyes and does not release its own substances into the contents. It is therefore also suitable for concentrated essential oils and fragrance compositions, which can damage some plastics.
• Transparency – clear glass shows the colour, clarity and any sediment, which is practical for samples and when checking the stability of a test batch. However, it does not protect the contents from light.
• Simple closure – the cap made of polypropylene with a foam polyethylene sealing insert is tightened by hand and seals reliably when properly tightened. The black colour looks neutral and matches both white and coloured labels.
• Small volume with no unnecessary waste – for samples, recipe tests and gift miniatures, exactly the right amount is used and the packaging can be reused after washing.

What the set is suitable for

The 5 ml bottle is best suited for filling preparations that are dispensed by drops or in small amounts and do not need to be applied directly from the packaging:

• Essential oil blends and fragrance oils – glass suits them well and the small volume corresponds to actual consumption.
• Serum and facial oil samples – the customer can try the preparation before buying the full-size product.
• Test batches during recipe development – the same contents in several small bottles allows you to monitor changes in colour and fragrance over time.
• Small quantities of tinctures, extracts and active concentrates for cosmetic use, which are subsequently added to a larger preparation.

For water-based preparations without preservation, such as pure hydrolats for single use, the set works as well. It should be noted, however, that the simple cap does not allow dispensing drop by drop or spraying.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the packaging is designed for standard filling, and this is how the packaging is labelled and sold. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference forms a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes; for oils and alcohol-based preparations this reserve is more important than for water-based ones. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents leak during closing and contaminate the thread, which reduces the seal. Preparation before filling and reuse

New packaging is recommended to be washed with warm soapy water before first use, rinsed with clean water, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely upside down. Residual water in the packaging shortens the shelf life of anhydrous preparations and can cause cloudiness in oil blends.

The glass bottle can be used repeatedly after thorough washing. The cap is replaced more often: the sealing insert after prolonged contact with essential oils or fragrance compositions may soften, absorb the fragrance or lose its elasticity. Before reuse, it is worth checking the insert and replacing the closure with a new one at any sign of change.

Good to know

• Glass and heat – the bottle can tolerate filling with lukewarm contents, but a sudden temperature change (hot contents into cold glass) can crack the glass. Allow heated oil phases to cool to at least room temperature before filling.
• Seal during transport – when sending samples by post, tighten the cap firmly and place the bottle in a resealable bag. Test the seal of the specific preparation in advance, especially for alcohol-based and very thin oil preparations, as the behaviour of the insert depends on the composition of the contents.
• Labelling – a narrow wraparound label holds on the straight wall of the vial. For oily contents, apply the label to a dry, degreased surface and use film labels; paper labels will be damaged by grease.
