A ready-made set for your own toners, facial mists, hair sprays and fresheners: a clear PET bottle with a nominal capacity of 100 ml and a fitted mini trigger sprayer with a 24/410 neck finish. The black head with a glossy gold collar looks neat without any further decoration, so the set suits a retail product as well as samples for customers.

The clear wall shows the colour of the contents and how much is left. It does not protect the contents from light, however, which you should consider when choosing a formulation. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so this size often ends up in a cosmetic travel bag, a handbag or on a salon table.

What the set is suitable for

• Facial toners and hydrosols – thin water-based solutions are sprayed evenly and finely, as a facial mist requires.
• Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – light water-based and water-alcohol formulations applied to the lengths of the hair.
• Body and room fresheners – fragrance waters with a lower fragrance content, sprays for a room or for textiles.
• Hand disinfectant sprays – alcohol solutions, where you will appreciate an unbreakable bottle and simple dispensing.
• Samples and testers – the smaller volume lets a customer try the product and lets you test interest without a large batch.

How the set works

The sprayer draws the contents up through a tube reaching to the bottom of the bottle, and a single press releases approximately 0.12 ml of liquid as a fine mist. The figure is indicative; the actual dose depends on the density of the contents and on how fully you press the head. Before first use, prime the sprayer by pressing it several times until the tube fills.

It sprays best with liquids of a viscosity close to that of water. The thicker the contents, the coarser the stream and the harder it is to press. Light oils can be dispensed through a mini trigger sprayer, but the mist will be coarser and closer to droplets. Thicker oils and gels are not suitable for this type of closure. Before filling a whole batch, test the formulation in a single bottle.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Rinse the bottle and the sprayer with clean water, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Spray the disinfectant solution through the sprayer and then clean water, so that the tube and the valve are rinsed as well.

Reuse. The set can be used repeatedly. After emptying, wash it and rinse the sprayer with clean water until a clear mist comes out. Dried residues of the formulation, especially with oils or a higher proportion of surfactants, can clog the valve, so clean it as soon as the contents are used up.

Material and contents. PET withstands water-based solutions, hydrosols, common cosmetic emulsions and alcohol toners. Undiluted essential oils, higher concentrations of fragrance compositions and some solvents can cloud or soften the plastic over time. With such contents, test the bottle and sprayer with the specific formulation for several weeks before sale.

Bottle and other closures. The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish. You will find closures with the same neck finish and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET. The sprayer combines polypropylene and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
