Product description
The brown 150 ml plastic bottle with a black mechanical spray pump and a shiny gold collar is a ready-to-use set for thin, watery preparations applied as a fine mist. Brown PET reduces light transmission, so light-sensitive contents retain their colour and scent longer than in a clear bottle. The bottle and spray pump share the same neck type, so there is nothing extra to buy or test for a leak-proof fit.
The most common fills are facial tonics, hydrolats, body and hair mists, leave-in hair conditioner sprays, fabric and air refreshers, or alcohol-based solutions such as eau de parfum and hand sanitiser sprays. The bottle will not shatter, making it suitable for handbags, travel, the gym, and retail ranges where frequent handling is expected.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for use with food.
How the set works
The spray pump works without compressed gas. Pressing the head draws the contents up through a dip tube reaching almost to the bottom of the bottle, and the nozzle disperses them into fine droplets. A single press releases a small dose, which suits preparations applied repeatedly and evenly over a larger area, such as a facial tonic or a hair mist.
The spray pump body is made of PP, the gold collar of aluminium. The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic with a brown transparent tint. The approximate fill level is visible through it, but it transmits significantly less light than a clear material.
The mechanical spray pump handles only thin liquids with a viscosity close to water. Oils, gels, serums with a thickener, or emulsions will clog the nozzle and the pump will stop dispensing. For such contents, choose a bottle with a lotion pump or a dropper.
Filling and volume reserve
The 150 ml volume is the nominal volume, meaning the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the top of the neck is greater. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and pump body, which occupy part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume. If filled to the neck, the contents would overflow when the spray pump is screwed on and could leak from the nozzle when heated.
What is worth knowing
- Preparation before first fill – rinse the bottle and spray pump, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Flush the spray pump with several presses in clean water and then in a disinfecting solution to clean the nozzle and dip tube as well.
- Alcohol and essential oil contents – for fills with a higher proportion of ethanol, undiluted essential oils, limonene, or other solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the bottle and the pump seal on a small sample before filling the full batch.
- Heat – the plastic should be filled cold or with only slightly warm contents. Hot liquid will deform the bottle.
- Reuse – the set can be emptied, washed, disinfected and refilled. When changing the contents, flush the spray pump thoroughly, otherwise residues of the previous fragrance or colourant will mix into the new fill.
- Preservation of the contents – the spray pump draws a small amount of air into the bottle with each press. Water-based preparations such as tonics and hydrolats therefore require adequate preservation, even when the contents are not touched by hand.
- Recycling – the PET bottle belongs in plastic waste. The spray pump is made of multiple materials; separate it from the bottle before disposal.
Before selling or giving away a finished product, always check that the spray pump is leak-proof when screwed on and that the contents do not leak from the nozzle when the bottle is placed on its side. Leak-tightness depends on the fill, particularly with alcohol-based contents.
Closures with the same neck type and further ready-made bottle-plus-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour, and compatibility of the packaging with the specific formulation.
