Product description
Amber glass medicine bottle, glossy silver dropper, 100 ml
A set consisting of an amber glass medicine bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a glossy silver dropper with an 18/410 neck finish, designed for filling and dispensing liquid cosmetic products drop by drop. Amber glass reduces light exposure, so the bottle suits contents that lose stability in light: facial oils, oil serums, essential oil blends, herbal macerated oils or alcohol tinctures. The dropper measures an exact amount without spilling and without your fingers touching the contents, which you will appreciate with concentrated products where the dose matters.
This volume suits hair and body oils, massage blends, oil cleansing or a larger pack of serum where smaller dropper bottles would not be enough. The term medicine bottle describes the shape of the bottle and has nothing to do with use for medicines.
What the set is suitable for
- Oil serums and facial oils – dark glass slows the yellowing and oxidation of unsaturated oils, and the dropper dispenses precisely onto the palm or directly onto the skin.
- Essential oil blends and perfume oils – glass does not react with the contents or absorb the scent, and after washing the bottle can be used for a different fragrance.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – alcohol does not harm the glass, and the dropper measures an exact number of drops into water or into a finished product.
- Hair oils and cuticle oils – the glass tube of the dropper matches the height of the bottle, so the contents can be dispensed down to the last drops.
Good to know
The length of the dropper matches the height of this bottle. The dropper is glossy silver, and the bulb is white. When closing, it is enough to tighten the dropper by hand, as overtightening it with force can damage the thread.
Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for in normal filling, in this case 100 ml. Brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when the bottle is closed, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck after the dropper is inserted and soil the thread.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil or a tincture shortens the shelf life of the contents.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, while the set with the dropper is intended for cosmetic products.
Closures with the same 18/410 neck finish and other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not pour a mixture into it directly from a water bath, but let it cool to room temperature first.
The bottle can be used repeatedly. Wash out the oil residues with warm water and washing-up liquid, disinfect the bottle and let it dry with the neck facing down. Rinse the dropper by drawing in and squeezing out clean water several times, then alcohol, and let it dry with the tube facing down. Residues of old oil in the bulb may turn yellow, so rinse it from the inside as well. With alcohol-based and strongly aromatic contents, the elasticity of the silicone bulb may change over time, so check it from time to time. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling, while the dropper consists of several materials and it is recommended to separate its parts before recycling.
