Product description
Glass bottle, medicine bottle, 28 mm, black low cap, 50 ml
Brown glass medicine bottle with a volume of 50 ml and a black low cap is a complete package for contents that require protection from light: vegetable and essential oils, face and hair serums, oil blends, tinctures, tonics, herbal extracts or homemade syrups. Brown glass reduces light penetration and thus slows down oxidation of sensitive contents. Glass also does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, making it suitable even for contents that would eventually damage a plastic container.
The complete set, meaning both the bottle and the cap, has certification for direct contact with food and is declared as suitable for cosmetic products. In addition to cosmetics, you can therefore also use it for homemade food products, for example flavoured oils, herbal syrups or alcohol-based extracts. The declaration of conformity can be found with the product.
Why choose this set
- Protection of contents from light – brown glass limits light transmission, which helps maintain stability of oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, essential oils, vitamin serums and plant extracts.
- Inert material – glass does not absorb scents, does not discolour and does not react with contents. After thorough washing, the bottle can be reused without carrying over residues of the previous contents.
- Medicine bottle shape – the straight cylindrical body stands stably, is easy to hold and provides a flat surface for a label. Medicine bottle is the name of the shape, not the purpose; the container is common for both cosmetics and food.
- Low cap – the flat black closure keeps the bottle compact, does not add height and complements the brown glass. Contents pour directly from the bottle, without a dispenser.
- Volume for small batches – 50 ml is a suitable volume for samples, test batches, serums, oil elixirs or gift packaging, where a larger container would not be fully used.
Nominal and total volume
With a bottle you will encounter two volume figures. Nominal volume is the quantity the container is intended for during normal filling and which is stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap, any dropper or pump, and for the expansion of contents with temperature change. The specific values of both volumes can be found in the product parameters.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filling to the neck, the contents would overflow when screwing on the cap or when heated, and residues would accumulate under the cap, making cleaning more difficult and reducing the seal.
Filling, sealing and closure selection
The cap in the set is selected to match the bottle neck, the threads fit together and the closure tightens by hand without excessive force. Before filling an entire batch, we recommend checking compatibility with the specific formulation, especially with thin oils and alcohol-based extracts, and storing filled bottles upright. If you need more precise dosing, for example drop by drop for a serum or spraying for a tonic, reach for closures with the same neck type (specified in the parameters) or for ready-made container and closure combinations. With your own combination, verify not only the seal but also the dosing — the behaviour of a dropper or pump depends on the viscosity of the contents.
What is worth knowing
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and cap with warm water and detergent, rinse thoroughly, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based or anhydrous product promotes microbial growth.
- Plastic cap and essential oils – glass itself is resistant to essential oils and solvents, but the contents come into contact with the cap when the bottle is tipped or overflows. Therefore store bottles with concentrated essential oils upright and check the cap before each filling.
- Labelling – the straight cylindrical part of the bottle is suitable for a self-adhesive label. Label dimensions can be found in the product parameters; for oily contents we recommend a grease-resistant label.
- Repeated use – glass can be reused after washing and disinfection. Replace the cap if it no longer tightens properly over time or if the thread is damaged. Before recycling, unscrew the cap — it is a different material from glass.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let warm contents, such as a freshly cooked syrup or oil extract, cool to at least lukewarm temperature before filling, and do not place a hot bottle on a cold surface.
