Product description

A clear glass 30 ml bottle with a white dropper makes ready-to-use packaging for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures or diluted essential oils, in other words for anything that is dispensed drop by drop. Clear glass shows the colour and purity of the contents, so it suits cases where the contents should be visible: coloured serums, macerated oils or products for sale, where customers judge the contents by eye. The dropper is already matched to the bottle, so you do not need to choose it separately.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity and technical documentation are available with the product.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial and hair serums – both water-based and oil-based, where a few drops are dispensed per use.
  • Face and beard oil blends – applied from the dropper straight onto your palm or skin without pouring.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and drop dispensing is common for these products.
  • Diluted essential oils and fragrance blends – glass is compatible with fragrance ingredients over the long term.
  • Samples and test batches – the 30 ml volume is enough to try out a recipe without using up a lot of raw materials.

Dropper and dispensing

The white dropper has a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a top made of polypropylene. Glass and silicone withstand oils and alcohol, so the dropper works with oil serums, tinctures and water-based formulations. With thicker oils or more viscous serums, a drop forms more slowly and drawing up the liquid takes longer. This is due to the thickness of the contents, not a fault in the dropper.

The tamper-evident ring on the closure serves as a check on first opening. When you sell finished cosmetics, customers can see that nobody opened the product before them. For your own use in the workshop, the ring does not get in the way – after the first opening it simply breaks off.

Before the first filling, we recommend taking the dropper apart, rinsing the tube and the bulb, and letting them dry completely. Any water left in the tube would otherwise dilute the first doses of an oil serum or bring moisture into an anhydrous product.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical capacity of the whole bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. This is why you should fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it higher, the contents will overflow through the neck when you screw in the dropper and soil the thread, which makes the seal worse.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Fill this packaging with serums containing vitamin C, retinol or unstabilised oils only if you will store them in the dark or in a box. For longer exposure to light, amber or blue glass is more suitable.

Good to know

The glass withstands disinfection with ethanol and isopropyl alcohol and can be reused. Before filling again, wash and disinfect the bottle and let it dry upside down so that no water remains inside. Sudden temperature changes are not good for glass, so let a hot emulsion or oil cool to at least room temperature before filling.

With undiluted essential oils or more aggressive solvents, we recommend observing the behaviour of the bulb over several weeks, in particular whether it softens or changes shape.

For recycling, the glass bottle is sorted with glass. The dropper is a combination of several materials, and it is recommended to separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Closures with the same neck type as stated in the bottle parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It suits formulations that are not light-sensitive, or products stored in a box or in the dark. For serums with vitamin C, retinol or easily oxidising oils, amber or blue glass is safer, as it filters out part of the light.
How much liquid can I pour into a bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. The reserve above this level is needed for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents in warm conditions. An overfilled bottle overflows when closed, and a soiled thread then seals less well.
Is the dropper suitable for oil serums and tinctures?
Yes, the glass tube and the silicone bulb withstand oils and alcohol extracts. With thicker oils a drop forms more slowly, which is normal. With undiluted essential oils or strong solvents, we recommend checking whether the bulb changes over time, as these put more strain on it than ordinary cosmetics do.
Can a glass bottle with a dropper be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the dropper can be washed and used again. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Take the dropper apart, rinse the tube and the bulb, and dry them thoroughly so that residual water does not spoil the next oil-based or anhydrous contents. The tamper-evident ring cannot be restored after the first opening.
What is the tamper-evident ring on the dropper for?
The tamper-evident ring shows whether the packaging has already been opened. It breaks and separates from the closure on the first unscrewing, so with finished cosmetics intended for sale, customers can be sure the packaging is intact. For home use, it has no effect on how the dropper works and simply breaks off after the first opening.
