Product description

A glass bottle (vial) with a black sprayer and smoky cap turns liquid contents into a fine mist. The set with a nominal volume of 100 ml is designed for thin aqueous and alcohol-based products applied by spraying.

Glass is inert to cosmetic formulations: it does not react with aqueous or alcoholic components and does not absorb their scent. It is therefore also suitable for products containing essential oils or fragrance compositions. The cap protects the sprayer head from accidental actuation and dust, which is convenient when carrying in a bag.

What the set is suitable for

The sprayer works reliably with liquids that have a consistency close to water. The 100 ml volume corresponds to everyday-use products where more than one dose is consumed per application.

  • Facial tonics and hydrolats – an even mist covers the face without a cotton pad and the contents do not come into contact with fingers.
  • Body and hair mists – aqueous or alcoholic bases with fragrance compositions or essential oils, applied from a greater distance.
  • Hair sprays and scalp tonics – thin leave-in solutions with active ingredients.
  • Room fragrances and fabric fresheners – alcoholic or aqueous blends with solubilised fragrance.

Thick oils, gels, emulsions and blends with solid particles (clays, glitters, plant fragments) are not suitable for this container. The sprayer will not atomise them into a mist; they stream out or clog the nozzle.

How the sprayer doses and seals

One press delivers approximately 0.12 ml of contents, allowing the product to be applied economically and evenly. The dip tube reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle, so the contents can be dispensed almost completely. Before first use, the head needs to be pressed several times until the mechanism is primed with liquid.

The sprayer screws onto the bottle and is tightened firmly after filling.

It is worth testing a new formulation in a single container first. After a few days it becomes clear whether the contents spray into a fine mist, whether the nozzle becomes clogged, and whether the cap seals even when the bottle is lying on its side.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly higher. The difference serves as a buffer for the dip tube and sprayer mechanism, and for the expansion of contents when temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What is good to know before filling

Before first filling, the bottle is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. For the sprayer, it is enough to flush with ethanol and let it air out. Residual water in the container increases the risk of microbial contamination, particularly with aqueous products.

Glass tolerates standard filling temperatures but reacts poorly to sudden temperature changes. Hot contents should not be poured into a cold bottle. The plastic parts of the sprayer are made from polypropylene, which is resistant to aqueous and alcoholic blends.

For products with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying how the plastic parts of the sprayer behave after prolonged contact with the specific formulation.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle alone; the sprayer does not hold one. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

Smooth glass holds self-adhesive labels well if the surface is degreased before application. The dimensions needed for label design are in the parameters. Other closures with the same neck type (listed in the parameters) and ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.

Glass is highly recyclable. The sprayer should be unscrewed from the bottle before sorting for recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass bottle with sprayer suitable for oil-based products?
This set is not suitable for pure vegetable oils. Glass poses no issue for oil, but the sprayer is designed for thin liquids with a consistency close to water. A thicker oil will not spray into a mist but will stream out. For two-phase products with a thin oil layer, we recommend verifying the behaviour on a sample.
How much does the sprayer on the 100 ml glass bottle dispense per press?
The sprayer delivers approximately 0.12 ml per press. When filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, this means roughly hundreds of doses from a single bottle. The figure is indicative; the actual amount also depends on whether the head is pressed all the way down.
Can the glass bottle with sprayer be used for food products?
The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not food. The food-contact certificate applies only to the glass bottle itself; the sprayer does not hold one. For food use, the bottle would therefore need to be combined with a closure that has confirmed food-contact compliance.
How to clean the glass bottle with sprayer before reuse?
The bottle is washed with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinsed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry. The sprayer is flushed first with warm water, then with ethanol, to clean the dip tube and mechanism as well. If residues of fragrance or dried contents remain, it is more reliable to use a new one.
Why is the 100 ml bottle with sprayer not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume because the space above the liquid level is taken up by the dip tube and sprayer mechanism. If filled to the brim, the contents would overflow when the cap is screwed on. The headspace also accommodates the expansion of liquid when the temperature changes, which is particularly important for alcohol-based products.
