Product description

The white plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a volume of 50 ml and a black fine mist sprayer with a smoky overcap makes a ready-to-use set for spray cosmetic products. The opaque white PET reduces light exposure, so sun-sensitive contents keep better than in a clear bottle, and the plastic withstands a fall in the bathroom or in a handbag. The sprayer disperses the liquid into fine droplets, which is why the set is best suited to toners, hydrolates, face mists and hair mists.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrolates – thin water-based products that the sprayer disperses evenly and in a small dose, without running down the skin.
  • Face and body mists – refreshing sprays with a water-based or slightly alcohol-based formulation. The white plastic protects plant extracts and vitamins from light.
  • Hair sprays – conditioning or setting sprays with a water-based, low-viscosity formulation.
  • Samples and travel packs – the 50 ml volume and unbreakable material are suitable for testing recipes as well as for packing in hand luggage.
  • Air fresheners and room sprays – water-based or alcohol-based compositions where you want an even dispersion into the room.

How the set dispenses and seals

The sprayer screws onto the bottle neck with the 18/415 neck finish and delivers the same dose of approximately 0.12 ml with each press. The dip tube is longer than the body of the bottle, so it draws up the contents right from the bottom. It can be adjusted to the exact height of the packaging by shortening it with an angled cut. The smoky overcap covers the nozzle and protects it from dust and from accidental pressing in a bag.

The sprayer works with thin liquids. The nozzle does not disperse thicker serums, emulsions or pure oils into a mist; the liquid comes out as a stream or the mechanism becomes blocked. If your formulation contains an oil component, incorporate it into the water phase using a solubiliser and check the resulting viscosity directly in this sprayer.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropanol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Pump the sprayer several times with clean water and dry it as well, so that residual water does not get into the preserved product.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The physical volume of the bottle up to the neck is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the sprayer mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you filled the bottle to the neck, part of the contents would leak out after the sprayer is screwed on.

Good to know

  • Heat – PET is filled cold; warm or hot products deform the packaging. Let the finished toner or mist cool before filling.
  • Alcohol-based products – cosmetic sprays containing a proportion of ethanol are common. With a high concentration of alcohol, undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic and the seal behave with your specific formulation.
  • Your own combination – closures with the same neck type and other ready-made sets can be found in the Handymade range. With your own assembly, check the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your recipe.
  • Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be washed and used again. Product residue should not be allowed to dry in the sprayer, so rinse it after emptying.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of PP. Before disposal, unscrew the set so that the two plastics can be sorted.

Opaque white plastic does not show how much of the contents remains in the bottle. If you need to track consumption, write the filling date on the packaging or weigh the bottle from time to time.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white plastic 50 ml bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the opaque white PET reduces light exposure, and the contents are not exposed to direct sun as they would be in clear packaging. The bottle is therefore suitable for toners and mists with plant extracts, vitamins or hydrolates, which lose colour and effectiveness faster in light. Even so, store the product away from direct sunlight and at normal room temperature.
Can oil be sprayed through this sprayer?
No, the sprayer does not disperse pure oils and thicker products into a mist. The mechanism is designed for thin water-based and slightly alcohol-based liquids, and oil comes out of the nozzle as a stream or blocks it. If you want a spray with an oil component, work with a low proportion of oil incorporated using a solubiliser and check the result directly in this set.
Is the bottle and sprayer set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the bottle itself (Plastic pharmaceutical bottle, white, 50 ml) has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer has no such assessment. For cosmetic products, the entire set is declared suitable, that is, both the bottle and the sprayer.
How much liquid fits into the 50 ml bottle?
With normal filling, 50 ml, which is the nominal volume of the packaging. Physically, more fits into the bottle, but the space above the nominal volume is a reserve for the dip tube and the sprayer mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the sprayer were screwed onto an overfilled bottle, the contents would overflow, so fill only to the nominal volume.
Can I fill the PET bottle with an alcohol-based spray or perfume?
Cosmetic sprays with a normal proportion of ethanol, such as toners or refreshing mists, can be filled into PET without problems. With highly concentrated alcohol, undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend first testing with a small amount. Watch the tightness, the cloudiness of the plastic and the scent of the contents for several days, and only then fill the whole batch.
