Product description
A glass bottle with a sprayer in a 50 ml volume is a ready-made set for your own sprays. It consists of a vial-shaped bottle made of green glass and a black plastic sprayer with a smoke-tinted cap that disperses the contents into a fine mist. Green glass reduces some of the light reaching the contents while still allowing the fill level to be seen through it. The set is particularly suitable for facial tonics, mists and hydrolats in a travel or trial size.
Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The sprayer is made of polypropylene (PP); glass and plastic can be separated and sorted separately at end of life.
Why green glass and a sprayer
- Light reduction – tinted glass transmits less light than clear glass, which helps slow colour and scent changes in hydrolats, infusions and perfumed waters. This is not full protection; ingredients that are very sensitive to light should still be stored away from direct sunlight.
- Fine mist instead of a stream – the sprayer breaks the contents into tiny droplets that spread evenly across skin or hair. A single press releases a small dose, making it easy to apply even to the face.
- Smoke-tinted cap – the transparent dark cap protects the nozzle from dust and accidental actuation in a bag or during transport.
- Chemically resistant glass – glass does not react with alcohol, fragrance ingredients or more acidic tonics, and does not absorb odour. The bottle can therefore be cleaned and reused for a different formulation.
What the set is suitable for
The sprayer works best with thin aqueous and alcoholic liquids: hydrolats, tonics with glycerin or a low proportion of solubilised essential oils, hair mists, pillow sprays, perfumed waters and hand sanitiser sprays based on ethanol. Thanks to the green glass, it is also suitable for herbal infusions and tinctures intended for the skin.
Thick oils, emulsions and serums with a high content of thickeners are not suitable for the sprayer. The pump will either fail to draw them up, or produce a stream instead of a mist, and the nozzle will clog quickly. For oil-based products, the same bottle fitted with a dropper or pump is a better choice.
The sprayer tube is supplied with some length to spare. Before assembling for the first time, trim it with a sharp knife so that it reaches just to the bottom of the bottle without bending. A bent tube draws less effectively and leaves more unused product in the bottle.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger; both figures are listed in the specifications. The difference between them is the allowance for the sprayer tube and pump, which take up some space when screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim — otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck when the sprayer is screwed on.
Good to know
- Before first use, wash the bottle, disinfect it and allow it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water, pump it several times without liquid and leave it to dry. Do not disassemble it.
- Preservation of contents – the sprayer limits contact between the contents and air or fingers, but it does not replace a preservative. Water-based sprays require a preservation system just as they would in any other packaging.
- Essential oils and plastic – diluted essential oils commonly used in sprays are tolerated by the PP sprayer. At high concentrations or with undiluted oils, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the nozzle and seals on a test sample.
- Filtration – filter infusions and tinctures before filling. Fine particles of plant material are among the most common causes of a clogged nozzle.
- Label – the cylindrical shape of the bottle allows a wrap-around label to be applied; the dimensions for label design are in the specifications.
- Intended use – the set is designed for cosmetic and toiletry products. It is not declared for food contact and is therefore not suitable for home-made syrups or culinary oils.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type as listed in the bottle specifications, and further ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and closure behaviour with your specific formulation.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Allow hot liquid to cool before filling and do not take the bottle directly from the refrigerator into hot water.
