Product description
A blue plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 200 ml and a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use set for liquid and gel cosmetics dispensed by squeezing the bottle: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, and liquid soaps. The cap opens and closes with one hand, and its lid stays attached to the closure so it won't get lost in the shower or by the sink.
The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that won't shatter like glass if dropped. It is therefore suitable for the bathroom, travel, and shipping finished products. The blue colour with the matte white cap gives the packaging a clean, bathroom-ready look. Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
Which products is the set suitable for
The flip-top cap dispenses through a small opening, so it works best with medium-viscosity products that flow but do not pour out on their own.
- Shower gels and liquid soaps – squeezing the bottle delivers an appropriate dose and the opening can be snapped shut even with a wet hand.
- Shampoos and conditioners – a bottle of this size is comfortable to hold while washing hair.
- Body lotions and thinner emulsions – thinner O/W emulsions dispense cleanly; thick creams and butters are better suited to a jar.
- Massage and body oils – oil flows more quickly, so simply tilting the bottle is enough and the dose can be controlled with gentle pressure.
- Micellar and facial waters – very thin liquids flow through the opening quickly; a spray or pump dispenser gives more precise dosing.
Dispensing and leak-tightness
The dose is controlled by the force of the squeeze, which suits PET walls well: they return to their original shape once released. The snapped-shut lid seals the dispensing opening. Before carrying in a bag or shipping, it is advisable to verify leak-tightness with the specific product, especially for thin liquids and oils.
It is worth testing the product consistency directly in the bottle before filling the full batch. If the gel comes out with difficulty or gets stuck in the opening, slightly reducing the viscosity will help; if it flows on its own, a different closure type is more appropriate.
Closures with the same neck type (listed in the product parameters) and other ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. When creating your own combination, we recommend verifying the dispensing behaviour and how the packaging performs with your specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling causes product to be pushed into the thread when closing, and it may spurt out when first opened.
Useful things to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash both the bottle and cap with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Residual water inside the packaging unnecessarily burdens the preservation of the product.
- Labelling – labels adhere best to a dry and degreased surface. Bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the product parameters.
- Contact with food – the food-contact certification applies to the bottle alone. The set with the flip-top cap as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.
- Recycling – PET is among the commonly recycled plastics; empty and rinsed packaging belongs in the sorted plastic waste collection.
PET deforms under heat. Fill the product only once it has cooled down, at most lukewarm, and do not boil or sterilise the bottle with hot water or in an oven.
