Product description

The brown 200 ml plastic bottle with a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle. Suitable for shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, body lotions and massage oils. The bottle is made of PET, making it light and shatter-resistant — practical in the shower, by the bath and when travelling. The brown colouring reduces light penetration and helps protect light-sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils, extracts and fragrance components.

The flip-top cap opens and closes with one hand and stays attached to the bottle, so it cannot be misplaced during use. The set is suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Which products is the set suitable for

Shampoos and shower gels – medium-viscosity products that flow smoothly through the cap opening.
Body lotions and rinse-out conditioners – fluid emulsions that can be squeezed out without a pump.
Massage and body oils – the brown bottle limits light exposure, which accelerates oil oxidation.
Liquid soaps and cleansing gels – the small opening makes it easy to dispense just the right amount directly into the palm.

The flip-top is not suitable for thick creams, butters and pastes, as they cannot be squeezed through the small opening — a jar is a better choice for those. Very thin liquids such as tonics or hydrolats run out quickly through the opening and are dispensed more accurately with a spray cap.

How the flip-top dispenses and seals

The contents are dispensed through the small opening in the cap by tilting and gently squeezing the bottle. Snapping the lid shut closes the opening. The dose per squeeze depends on the viscosity of the product, so it is worth testing dispensing with the finished formulation before filling an entire batch.

Test the seal with your own product. Leave the filled and closed bottle lying on its side for a day. Thin oils and low-viscosity products put the seal to the greatest test.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under standard filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference acts as a buffer for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Exact values are listed in the product parameters.

What to know before filling

Preparation – before first use, wash both the bottle and cap, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely.
Essential oils and solvents – concentrated essential oils and strong solvents can damage the plastic and are not suitable for this bottle.
Label – bottle dimensions for designing a self-adhesive label are listed in the parameters.

Intended use – the set is intended for cosmetics and has not been approved for food contact.

PET softens and deforms under heat. Fill products that are prepared hot only after they have cooled down, and do not sterilise the bottle by boiling or with hot water.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown plastic bottle protect the contents from light?

Yes, the brown PET colouring reduces light penetration and slows down light-induced changes in sensitive ingredients. However, the protection is not complete and is not a substitute for a stable formulation. An antioxidant still plays an important role in products containing vegetable oils, and it is advisable not to leave the filled bottle in direct sunlight.

How full should the 200 ml plastic bottle with flip-top be filled?

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 200 ml, not all the way to the rim of the neck. Filling to the brim would cause the product to be pushed out past the thread when fitting the cap, and it could leak if the bottle warms up. The headspace above the fill level is therefore not a filling error but a necessary buffer.

Is the plastic bottle with flip-top suitable for oils and products containing essential oils?

Yes, the PET bottle is suitable for massage and body oils as well as ordinarily fragranced products. It is not suitable for concentrated essential oils and strong solvents, which can damage the plastic. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend conducting a test with a filled bottle and checking its shape, clarity and seal after a few weeks.

Can the plastic bottle with flip-top be reused?

Yes, both the bottle and cap can be reused after thorough cleaning. Wash them with lukewarm water and washing-up liquid, opening the cap and rinsing out the dispensing opening where product residue collects. Then sanitise both parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow them to dry completely. Hot water and boiling are not suitable as PET deforms under heat. Do not reuse a scratched or deformed bottle.

Can I fit a pump or spray cap instead of the flip-top on the 200 ml plastic bottle?

Yes, closures with the same neck type as listed in the parameters will fit the bottle. With a pump or spray cap, also check the dip tube length against the bottle height and trim it if necessary. It is advisable to verify the seal and dispensing of the new combination with the specific product.
