Product description

A 500 ml plastic bottle with a white flip top cap is a complete set for products that are dispensed repeatedly and in smaller amounts. The transparent wall shows how much content remains, the rounded shape is easy to hold, and the flip top opens with one finger. The 500 ml volume suits products with faster turnover, such as shower gels, shampoos, body lotions, liquid soaps or massage oils.

The set as a whole is approved for direct food contact and declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Declarations of conformity and certificates are listed with the product.

What the set is suitable for

  • Rinse-off cosmetics – shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and liquid soaps, where single-hand dispensing is appreciated even in the shower.
  • Body lotions and light emulsions – liquid to medium-viscosity emulsions that flow out in a controlled stream when the bottle is tilted and gently squeezed.
  • Massage and body oils – a larger pack for regular use; the cap opening allows dispensing drop by drop or in a thin stream.
  • Food – home-use flavouring oils, syrups, dressings or herbal infusions dispensed directly from the bottle.

How the flip top cap works

The cap has a hinged lid with a small dispensing opening that snaps back shut after use. There is no need to unscrew and set aside the cap, which is practical especially with wet hands. The cap is made of white polypropylene, which gives a clean, simple look against the transparent bottle.

Dispensing behaviour depends on the viscosity of the contents. Thin liquids such as oils or liquid soaps flow out on their own when the bottle is tilted. Thicker gels and emulsions require a gentle squeeze. With very thick creams, dispensing through the small opening is slow and awkward. With very thin liquids such as tonics or hydrolats, the stream is harder to control and a different cap type is more suitable.

Before filling an entire batch, run a test with one bottle. Check how the product dispenses, whether any content leaks from the opening after the lid is closed, and whether the cap seals properly even when shaken during transport.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling conditions. The total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides clearance for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise the contents are forced into the thread when closing and the cap will not seal properly.

Fill the bottle with contents cooled to room temperature. Warm emulsions or gels can deform the plastic, and once cooled they create negative pressure inside the sealed bottle that draws the wall inward.

Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the cap or in the lid opening can spoil an anhydrous product.

Good to know

  • Light protection – transparent plastic provides no protection from light. Products sensitive to light, such as those containing vitamins, essential oils or unstable dyes, require a dark container or an outer box.
  • Essential oils and solvents – undiluted essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions and products with a high alcohol content can degrade the plastic over time or cause it to release odour. For finished cosmetics with standard fragrance dosages, we recommend verifying packaging stability on a test sample.
  • Labels – the rounded shape requires a label that wraps around the bottle body. Bottle dimensions are listed in the product parameters.
  • Caps with the same neck finish – other caps with the same neck type also fit this bottle; ready-made combinations are available in the assortment. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – both the bottle and the cap are plastic and, once emptied and rinsed, belong in the sorted plastic waste collection.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 500 ml plastic bottle with a flip top cap suitable for food?
Yes, the bottle and cap set is approved for direct food contact under normal conditions of use. It is suitable for home-use oils, syrups, dressings or herbal infusions dispensed directly from the bottle. Suitability applies to both components individually and to the set as a whole; declarations are listed with the product.
Does the transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent plastic provides no protection from light. Products with unstable ingredients, such as vitamins, essential oils or natural colorants, may lose their efficacy, colour or scent when exposed to light. Transparency is an advantage for stable products where you want to see the contents and the remaining amount. For light-sensitive contents, choose a dark container or store the bottle in a box.
How much product fits in a bottle with a nominal volume of 500 ml?
The bottle is filled with 500 ml, which is the nominal volume. The physical volume up to the neck is larger, but that space serves as clearance for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will be forced into the thread when closing and the flip top may not seal correctly.
Can the flip top bottle be reused?
Yes, after thorough cleaning, disinfection and drying, both the bottle and the cap can be refilled. It is important to also clean the small dispensing opening in the lid, where residue from the previous product accumulates. Before refilling, check that the lid still snaps shut firmly and that nothing leaks from the opening.
Is the flip top cap suitable for oils and thin liquids?
For oils yes, for very thin water-based liquids less so. Oils and liquid soaps flow out when the bottle is tilted in a well-controlled stream that can be regulated by the angle of the bottle. Tonics, hydrolats or aqueous solutions are thinner, flow through the opening quickly and are harder to dispense in small amounts. For these, a spray pump or a lotion pump is more suitable.
