Product description

Clear plastic bottle, black disc top, 100 ml is a complete set: a bottle made of PET and a black disc top cap with a 24/410 neck finish. The clear wall lets you see the contents and how much is left, and the lightweight plastic suits the bathroom as well as travel. The 100 ml volume is right for shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps, body lotions and lighter creams, that is, liquid to medium-thick products that are dispensed through the opening in the cap by squeezing the bottle. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.

How dispensing through a disc top works

The disc top cap has a tilting disc in its top surface. Pressing one side opens the dispensing opening, and pressing the other side closes it again. It opens with one hand, which is useful with wet hands in the shower or when dispensing quickly at a workbench. The contents flow out when you tilt the bottle and squeeze it gently, and the amount is controlled by how hard you squeeze.

Products with a liquid to medium-thick consistency are the best fit for dispensing through a disc top. Thick creams and butters are difficult to push through a small opening. Very thin water-based products, such as toners, may run out faster than you would like when the bottle is tilted. For borderline consistencies, we recommend testing the dispensing with the finished formulation before you fill a whole batch.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle has a nominal volume of 100 ml. This is the amount it is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will be pushed into the thread when you close the bottle and the cap will not seal.

Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling. The bottle must be protected from heat, and warm contents change in volume as they cool, so the level in the bottle will drop.

Good to know

  • Preparation before the first filling – wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely.
  • Heat and chemicals – protect the bottle from heat and do not expose it to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, solvents or alcohol, fill one bottle first and check whether the wall softens, deforms or changes in appearance.
  • Leak-tightness – every combination of packaging and formulation behaves differently. Place the filled bottle on its side and leave it for a few days to find out whether the product leaks through the disc top.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP, and both materials belong in sorted plastic waste. Empty the packaging and unscrew the cap before disposal.

When filling thin products, keep the disc top closed until the cap is fully screwed on. An open disc easily lets the contents out when you handle a full bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. The bottle is therefore suitable for products where light is not a problem, or for products stored in a cabinet or a cosmetics bag. For light-sensitive ingredients, it is safer to choose dark or opaque packaging and to keep the filled bottle out of direct sunlight.
What products is the disc top cap suitable for?
The disc top is suitable for liquid to medium-thick products that flow when the bottle is squeezed: shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps, body lotions and lighter creams. Thick creams and butters are difficult to dispense through a small opening, and very thin products may run out all at once when the bottle is tilted. For a borderline consistency, we recommend testing the dispensing first.
To what level should a bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml be filled?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the rim of the neck. The space above the liquid is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle pushes the product into the thread when it is closed, the cap then does not seal, and the contents can escape even when the disc top is closed.
Can the bottle with the disc top be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be washed and used again. Before each new filling, wash the packaging, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Product residues remain under the disc of the cap, so rinse it both open and closed. Replace it when the disc no longer closes tightly or the cap does not sit properly on the thread.
Can a hot emulsion or a product containing alcohol be filled into a PET bottle?
Hot contents do not belong in a PET bottle, so let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling. The bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals, so for products with a higher proportion of alcohol, essential oils or solvents, first check how the packaging behaves in one filled bottle. Watch whether the wall softens, deforms or changes in appearance.
Can a closure other than the disc top be used on this bottle?
Yes, any closure with a 24/410 neck finish fits the bottle. You can find closures with this neck finish and ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific product in advance, because every closure behaves differently with a different consistency.
