Product description

A clear plastic jar, 200 ml with a black lid, is a complete packaging set for creams, butters and scrubs, also supplied with an aluminium induction liner. The clear body shows the colour and texture of the contents, the wide neck makes filling and scooping easy, and the flat black lid gives the packaging a clean, contrasting look. The 200 ml volume suits body creams and lotions, body butters, sugar and salt scrubs, masks, mud or bath salts.

The entire set — the jar, lid and induction liner — is approved for direct food contact. It is therefore also suitable for homemade syrups, honey, nut butters, dried herbs or spice blends. It is also declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Declarations of conformity are available for each individual component.

What the set contains

  • PET jar – clear and lightweight, it does not break like glass, which is especially appreciated by manufacturers who ship products by post or package larger batches.
  • PP plastic lid – black, with a thread that fits the jar neck precisely. When tightened, the lid seals firmly during normal handling and transport.
  • Aluminium induction liner – a thin disc of aluminium, paper and plastic that, when heated by an induction sealing machine, bonds to the rim of the jar neck. This creates a tamper-evident seal that will be visibly broken once opened.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the lid, the induction liner and the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Always fill the jar to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents will enter the thread, the lid will not seal and the liner will not bond to the neck correctly.

Use in practice

The wide neck and low height of the jar allow filling with a spatula or spoon, even with thick butters and scrubs that would not fit into a bottle. The customer can then easily scoop out the contents with their fingers or a cosmetic spatula.

Allow creams and butters prepared using heat to cool to at least room temperature before filling. PET is not designed for hot filling and the wall may deform under heat. Pour solidifying butters in a semi-solid state and let them set inside the jar.

Place the induction liner inside the lid, tighten the lid and pass the jar through an induction sealing machine according to its instructions. Without the machine the liner will not adhere and will remain a loose disc. In that case, simply leave it out — the lid closes without it as well.

Before first use, wash and sanitise both the jar and the lid with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. The container can be reused as long as it is not scratched or deformed. The induction liner is single-use.

What you should know

  • Light – clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Products containing sensitive oils, vitamins or plant extracts should be stored in the dark, or an opaque container should be chosen.
  • Essential oils and solvents – both PET and PP handle standard cosmetic emulsions and butters well. With a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation (cloudiness, softening, odour).
  • Liquid and thin contents – the jar is designed for creams, pastes and dry or semi-solid products. Liquids are difficult to dispense from it and may leak through the thread when tipped.
  • Labelling – both the smooth wall and the flat lid can be labelled.
  • Recycling – the PET jar and PP lid belong in sorted plastic waste. Remove the induction liner from the neck before discarding the container.

Lids with the same thread type and ready-made jar + lid combinations are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and the behaviour of the container with the specific contents.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 200 ml plastic jar with black lid suitable for food?
Yes, the entire set including the jar, lid and induction liner is approved for direct food contact. It is therefore suitable for homemade syrups, honey, nut butters, dried herbs or spice blends. The declaration of conformity is available for each component in the product specifications.
What is the aluminium induction liner in the jar for?
The induction liner creates a tamper-evident seal that, once heated by an induction sealing machine, bonds to the neck of the jar. The customer can see that the product has not been opened, and the contents are better protected against leakage and drying out. Without an induction sealing machine the liner will not adhere, but the lid closes without it too.
Can I fill the PET jar with hot cream or butter?
No, hot filling is not recommended for this jar. PET can deform at higher temperatures, so emulsions, butters or balms should be allowed to cool to at least room temperature before filling. It is more practical to pour solidifying butters in a semi-solid state and let them set in the jar.
Does the clear jar protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through. The advantage is that the customer can see the colour and texture of the product; the disadvantage is greater stress on light-sensitive ingredients such as unrefined oils and vitamins. Store such products in the dark or in secondary packaging, or opt for an opaque jar.
Can the 200 ml plastic jar be reused?
Yes, both the jar and the lid can be reused after washing and sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Before refilling, check that the wall is not scratched and the thread is undamaged. The induction liner is single-use and must be replaced with a new one each time.
