Product description

The plastic jar, clear, 300 ml with a white lid is a ready-made set consisting of a wide jar, a closure and a sealing membrane, designed for packaging thicker products that are scooped with fingers or a spatula. The clear jar reveals the contents and colour of the product, the wide neck makes filling and everyday use easier, and the white lid contrasts visually with the body. The 300 ml volume is suitable for body butters, scrubs, bath salts, hair masks, clay masks in powder form or homemade balms produced in larger quantities.

The set as a whole is approved for direct food contact, making it also suitable for homemade snacks, dried herbs, spices, salt or honey. All three components are also declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available for each component.

What the set consists of

  • Clear PET jar – a lightweight, transparent container with a low, wide shape, from which the contents can be conveniently scooped all the way to the bottom.
  • White PP lid – a screw-on closure for the wide neck of the jar.
  • White sealing membrane – an insert made of HDPE and foam polyethylene, placed inside the lid and resting on the neck rim. It improves the seal of the closure and limits leakage of soft contents during transport.

What the set is suitable for

The wide jar is practical wherever a product is meant to be scooped rather than poured through a narrow neck. It works well for body butters and thick creams, sugar or salt scrubs, hair masks, deodorant creams and dry mixtures – bath salts, clay masks, fizzing powder preparations. Thanks to its food-grade certification, it is also suitable for packaging homemade foods such as nut butters, spices or loose-leaf teas.

Clear PET transmits light. The contents are therefore always visible, which is an advantage with coloured scrubs or layered salts. For light-sensitive formulations (high proportion of unsaturated oils, natural colorants, essential oils), expect shorter stability or choose an opaque container.

Good to know

Containers distinguish between nominal and total volume. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the container is intended during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the lid with membrane and for the expansion of contents when the temperature changes. The jar is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will be pushed onto the thread when closing and the membrane will not seal.

Before the first filling, wash the jar, lid and membrane, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in the container shortens the stability of anhydrous products such as butters and scrubs.

PET is not intended for filling with hot contents. Allow melted butters and balms to cool to a lukewarm temperature before filling to avoid deforming the jar wall. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, solvents or alcohol-based preparations, we recommend verifying the container's behaviour with the specific formulation in a short test – plastic containers may become dull with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils.

The membrane is placed loosely in the lid. When opening, check that it has remained in place. After extended use, we recommend replacing it, especially if greasy contents have settled on it.

The set is suitable for reuse. After emptying, simply wash with warm water and detergent, disinfect and allow to dry. A label can be placed on the body of the jar or on the surface of the lid. From a recycling perspective, these are different plastics – PET body, PP lid and HDPE membrane – which, once separated, are sorted as plastic.

Closures with the same neck type as this jar, and other ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 300 ml plastic jar with lid suitable for food?
Yes, the entire set – jar, lid and membrane – is approved for direct food contact. You can use it for homemade nut butters, honey, spices, dried herbs or salt. This applies under normal and intended conditions of use; allow hot contents to cool before filling.
Can melted body butter be filled into the jar?
Yes, but only after cooling. The jar is made of PET, which softens at higher temperatures, so allow melted butters and balms to cool to a lukewarm temperature before filling, or fill with the already partially solidified mass. After filling, allow the product to set in the open jar before fitting the lid with the membrane.
Why is the jar not filled to the brim?
Because the lid with sealing membrane needs space when closing. It is filled to the nominal volume; the remainder to the brim is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled jar will push contents onto the thread, the closure will then not seal and the label will become soiled.
Does the clear jar protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light. It is suitable for products that are not affected by light – salt scrubs, clay masks, dry mixtures, butters with stable oils. For formulations with easily oxidising oils or natural colorants, we recommend an opaque container or storage out of direct light.
What is the white membrane in the lid for and does it need to be used?
The membrane rests on the neck rim and seals the joint between the jar and the lid. With soft and greasy contents it limits leakage during transport; with dry mixtures it prevents spillage and moisture ingress. For short-term home use it can be omitted; when selling and shipping products we always recommend inserting it.
Can the jar be washed and reused?
Yes, the jar, lid and membrane can all be washed and reused. Warm water with detergent, disinfection with alcohol and thorough drying before the next filling is sufficient. A membrane with settled greasy contents is best replaced with a new one so that the closure seals as it did at first filling.
