Product description
Plastic bottle, recycled, with clear mini trigger sprayer, 250 ml
A clear bottle made of recycled PET with a capacity of 250 ml and a fitted mini trigger sprayer with a glossy silver collar forms ready-to-use packaging for liquid products that are applied by spraying. The contents and their level are visible through the clear wall. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so the bottle is suitable for both the bathroom and a handbag. The bottle neck and the sprayer thread have the same 24/410 neck finish, so the two parts fit together without the need to look for a matching closure.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for food. The 250 ml capacity suits products that are used up faster and in larger amounts: face and body toners, hydrolates, refreshing face sprays, hair detangling sprays, after-sun sprays or home fragrance sprays for textiles. Both parts are also technical grade, so the bottle can be used for homemade cleaning solutions or for spraying water when working with clay and soap.
What the set is suitable for
- Toners and hydrolates – low-viscosity water-based products are dispensed evenly by the sprayer, and the fine mist spreads well on the skin.
- Hair sprays – water-based conditioning or styling sprays, where 250 ml is used up within a few weeks.
- Refreshing and home sprays – mixtures of water, alcohol and solubilised essential oils. For a higher proportion of solvent, we recommend the sample test described below.
- Auxiliary solutions in production – alcohol for removing bubbles from soap base, or water for dampening a mould.
Thick emulsions, higher-viscosity gels and pure oils cannot be turned into a mist by a mini trigger sprayer. The contents tend to drip or clog the nozzle. For such products, choose a bottle with a pump or a disc top closure.
How to fill and dispense
The stated 250 ml is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for with normal filling. The brimful capacity is greater, because space remains above the liquid for the dip tube of the sprayer and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not up to the neck. If it is overfilled, part of the contents is pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on, and the thread stays wet.
The sprayer draws up the contents through a tube from the bottom and releases approximately 0.12 ml with each press. Use this value when estimating the number of doses and when setting the concentration of active or fragrance ingredients in the spray. Check the tube before the first assembly: it should reach just above the bottom so that the remainder of the contents can also be sprayed. If it is longer and bends, it can be shortened with a sharp knife.
The clear wall does not block light. Store products containing light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamin C, retinol or a higher proportion of essential oils, in a cupboard away from the window, or fill them into amber or blue glass.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash and disinfect the bottle and the sprayer with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. The packaging can be reused; the procedure is repeated with every new filling.
PET withstands aqueous solutions and common alcohol-based toners. It is not suitable for hot filling: let the contents cool to room temperature, otherwise the bottle wall may deform. In line with the storage instructions, the packaging must not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For products with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or other organic solvents, leave a sample in the packaging for several days before filling a larger batch. Watch whether the wall turns cloudy and whether the sprayer continues to seal and dispense.
Besides plastic, the sprayer contains an aluminium part. For strongly acidic or salty solutions, therefore, check whether the contents change colour over time and whether the mechanism sticks.
For recycling, unscrew the sprayer from the bottle. The bottle is made of PET; the sprayer combines PP, another plastic and aluminium, so it is sorted separately.
If you want to use the bottle with a different closure, choose from the closures with a 24/410 neck finish in the Handymade range, where you will also find other ready-made packaging + closure combinations. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
