A ready-made spray set: a clear round PET bottle and a black mini trigger sprayer with a matte silver collar. The 150 ml bottle is comfortable to hold in one hand, fits into a handbag or sports bag, and does not break if dropped. The clear plastic lets you see the colour of the contents and how much is left.

The set suits liquid cosmetic products that are applied as a spray: toners, hydrosols, face and body mists, detangling hair sprays, refreshing hand sprays containing alcohol, and low-viscosity water-based mixtures. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for contact with food.

How the set works

• Sprayer – a mechanical pump with a dip tube draws liquid from the bottom of the bottle and disperses it into a fine mist. It needs no propellant and works by finger pressure alone.
• Dose – one press releases approximately 0.12 ml, which is enough for a spritz of the face or a short lock of hair.
• Collar – the matte silver aluminium collar sits on the black body of the sprayer and gives the set a uniform look.
• Clear bottle – you can see the liquid level and any sediment, so you know when to shake the contents and when to refill.

What the bottle is suitable for and what it is not

The sprayer is designed for water-like liquids: hydrosols, toners with glycerine or low concentrations of hyaluronic acid, water-alcohol sprays, and solutions with solubilised essential oil. Thicker products, oils and emulsions with a cream-like consistency cannot be sprayed through the nozzle. The pump either fails to draw them up or they come out in drops. For oil serums and emulsions, choose a pump or dropper instead.

Mixtures containing particles, for example undissolved powder, may clog the nozzle. After each filling, press the sprayer several times and check that the mist comes out evenly.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference leaves room for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled to the neck, the contents are pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is fitted and the set leaks.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the first fill and shorten the shelf life of the product. To clean the sprayer, pump clean water through it several times and then air, until no liquid comes out of the nozzle.

PET tolerates water-based and alcohol-based products and common cosmetic raw materials. With a high concentration of essential oils or when using solvents, check how the bottle behaves with your specific formulation: leave a sample in the packaging for several weeks and watch for clouding, softening or a change in the scent of the contents. Hot liquids do not belong in the bottle; fill it only after they have cooled.

You can use the set repeatedly. When changing the contents, clean the packaging in the same way as before the first filling. The bottle and the sprayer have the same 24/410 neck finish, so Handymade also offers other closures with this neck and further ready-made combinations for the bottle. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The bottle is made of PET, and the sprayer combines plastic and aluminium. Before disposal, unscrew the sprayer and separate it from the bottle so that the PET can be recycled on its own.
