Product description

This 150 ml plastic bottle with pump combines a clear round PET bottle with a matte white and gold pump with a 24/410 neck finish. The contents are dispensed by pressing the pump head, without unscrewing a cap, so the set suits cosmetics that your customer uses repeatedly during the day: body lotions, lighter creams and emulsions, liquid soaps, shower gels or shampoos. The clear wall shows the colour of the product and how much of it is left. PET is lightweight and does not break if dropped in the bathroom. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Body lotions and light emulsions – thinner O/W emulsions pass smoothly through the pump, and the dose stays even from the first press to the last.
  • Liquid soaps and shower gels – one press gives approximately as much as you need to wash your hands.
  • Shampoos and conditioners – in the shower the pump can be operated with one hand, and the bottle does not break if dropped.
  • Cleansing gels and facial milks – the contents do not touch your fingers, so the product stays clean throughout use.
  • Massage and body oils – the pump can handle thin oils; we recommend testing thicker blends with butters first.

How to work with the set

The pump is screwed onto the neck of the bottle and after a few presses the dip tube fills. From then on, each press dispenses approximately 1.3 ml of the contents. In small-batch production, this value is also useful for estimating how many applications the customer gets from one bottle. The pump dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors so that its end touches the bottom. This way almost all of the contents are drawn out and the pump does not start drawing in air prematurely.

Cut the dip tube at an angle, not straight. An angled cut does not stick to the bottom of the bottle, and the contents are drawn up even for the last millilitres.

Good to know

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The actual volume up to the neck is larger; the difference forms a reserve for the dip tube and the pump body and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it up to the neck, part of the contents will be pushed out when the pump is screwed on.

The pump handles liquid to medium-thick products. Thick body butters, creams with a high wax content or gels with high viscosity may clog it or be dispensed unevenly. For borderline consistencies, we recommend filling one piece and checking how the product dispenses after standing for a few days.

Fill the bottle only with contents that have cooled down. PET deforms at higher temperatures, and a hot emulsion can warp the wall of the bottle.

Before the first filling, rinse the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with IPA or ethanol and let them dry completely. The same applies to repeated use; in addition, pump clean water through the pump and let it drain, so that no residues of the previous product remain in the dip tube. The set is suitable for water-based and emulsion products and for common oils. For products with a high proportion of concentrated essential oils or solvents, or with very strong alcohol solutions, we recommend checking compatibility with PET in the finished formulation. The packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals.

The clear wall does not protect the contents from light. Formulations with light-sensitive ingredients, for example some vitamins, essential oils or plant extracts, belong rather in dark packaging, or should be stored away from direct sunlight.

If you combine the bottle with a different closure, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made sets in the Handymade range.

Once empty, the PET bottle goes into plastic waste. The pump is made of several materials, including metal parts, so it should be separated from the bottle before recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 150 ml plastic bottle with pump suitable for thick creams?
No, the pump is not suitable for thick creams and body butters. It is designed for liquid to medium-thick products such as body lotions, emulsions, liquid soaps, gels or shampoos. Thick contents are difficult to draw up through the dip tube, the dose is uneven and the pump may clog. For borderline consistencies, we recommend filling a test piece and checking the dispensing after a few days.
Why is the pump dip tube longer than the bottle?
The dip tube is supplied extra long and is shortened to the height of the bottle before use, because the same pump is used on bottles of different heights. Cut it so that the end touches the bottom, preferably at an angle so that it does not stick and the contents are drawn up to the very end. If the dip tube is too short, an unused remainder of the product stays at the bottom.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. For products with light-sensitive ingredients, dark glass or opaque plastic is more suitable, or the clear bottle can be stored away from direct sunlight. The advantage of clear packaging is that the customer can see the colour of the product and how much of it is left.
Can the 150 ml plastic bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump can be refilled after thorough cleaning. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with IPA or ethanol and let it dry. Pump clean water through the pump, rinse it with disinfectant and let it drain, so that no residues of the old product remain in the dip tube. If you change the formulation, we recommend checking that the pump seal still fits well.
How much does one press of the pump dispense?
One press dispenses approximately 1.3 ml of product. The actual dose depends on the thickness of the contents and on whether the dip tube is full, so after filling, prime the pump with a few presses. From a bottle filled to the nominal volume, the customer thus gets more than a hundred applications, which helps with planning consumption and with setting the price of the product.
Can I fill the PET bottle with products containing essential oils or alcohol?
You can fill the PET bottle with common emulsions, gels and products with a low proportion of essential oils. For concentrated essential oils, solvents or very strong alcohol solutions, we recommend checking compatibility with PET in the finished formulation, as the packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, not for contact with food.
