Product description
This set of a clear PET bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a white disc top closure is designed for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed by squeezing the bottle. It suits shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotion and liquid soap, and at this volume it is most often used as a travel, trial or gift pack. The clear wall shows the colour and the amount of the contents, so both the customer and the maker can see how much product is left. PET is lightweight and does not break, which matters for packaging used in the shower, in the bathroom or on the go.
How the set works
The cap screws onto the neck of the bottle and dispenses through a rotating disc. Pressing one side of the disc opens the dispensing opening, squeezing the bottle pushes out the amount you need, and pressing the other side of the disc closes the opening. You can do it all with one hand without unscrewing anything, which is useful for shampoo or shower gel in a wet environment.
A disc top works best with products of medium viscosity, which can be squeezed out of the bottle but do not run out on their own once the closure is open. Very thin, watery liquids pour quickly through the opening and the dose is hard to control. Thick creams and masks are pushed through the small opening with difficulty and require more pressure on the bottle wall. We always recommend testing the tightness and behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation on a single piece before filling a larger batch.
What the set is suitable for
- Shower gels and liquid soaps – dispensing by squeezing has proven itself for rinse-off products, and the bottle is easy to hold in a wet hand and does not break.
- Shampoos and conditioners – the 100 ml volume is enough for a travel or trial pack, and the product is dispensed with one hand in the shower.
- Body lotion and light emulsions – as long as the emulsion is fluid enough to be squeezed out, the disc top dispenses it in small amounts.
- Massage and body oils – the clear bottle shows the colour of the oil, but for light-sensitive oils bear in mind that the wall does not protect against light.
- Samples and trial packs – the smaller volume lets you test a formulation before deciding on a larger pack.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the thread and closure and for possible expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not up to the neck. If the bottle is overfilled, part of the contents is pushed out through the thread when the cap is screwed on, and the bottle may leak in the shipping pack.
Let the product cool to room temperature before filling, as PET must be protected from heat. Fill with a funnel or a dispensing bottle so that the thread stays clean and the disc top seals properly.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the disc of the closure dilutes the contents and increases the microbial risk.
The bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The set is intended for cosmetics.
The clear wall does not provide protection from light. Oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, serums with vitamin C or retinol and other light-sensitive ingredients are better suited to an amber or blue bottle. If you use a clear bottle for them, keep it in a box or out of direct daylight.
Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals. Concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and some solvents can attack PET. For formulations with a higher proportion of these ingredients, we recommend checking the behaviour of the bottle on a trial piece over several weeks before filling it in larger quantities.
Closures with the same 24/410 neck finish and ready-made combinations of the bottle with a different closure are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The bottle can be reused if it is thoroughly washed and disinfected after emptying. Residues of oil or emulsion in the thread are removed with warm water and a surfactant, followed by ethanol. The PET bottle and the PP cap are separated before disposal so that they can be sorted by material.
