Product description

Transparent 500 ml PET bottle with disc top cap – a ready-made package for shampoos, gels and lotions

This is a bottle and closure set: a transparent round PET bottle with a nominal volume of 500 ml and a disc top cap in a gold finish with a white centre. It is suitable wherever the contents are dispensed directly from the bottle by squeezing – for shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, body lotions and liquid soaps – and where the product should also be visible. The transparent wall reveals the colour, clarity and remaining amount of the product, so it works well with products whose appearance is part of the presentation.

PET is lightweight and unbreakable, which you will appreciate especially with larger volumes and with packaging used in the shower or bathroom. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity for both the bottle and the cap is available with the product.

Key features

  • Squeeze dispensing – the disc top opens by pressing one side of the disc, the contents are squeezed out by gently pressing the bottle, and the opening closes when the disc is pressed back down. There is no need to unscrew the cap, which is practical for everyday rinse-off products.
  • Transparent wall – the contents are visible, which helps with presenting coloured or pearlescent products. At the same time, the customer can see how much product remains.
  • Gold cap with a white centre – the metallic look of the aluminium shell gives the package a more distinctive character even without additional decoration. The white centre with the opening is the functional plastic part.
  • Low weight and resistance to breakage – PET withstands drops and handling during transport better than glass, which reduces both costs and risk during shipping.
  • 24/410 neck – a standard size, thanks to which you can later combine the bottle with other closures with the same neck from the Handymade range.

Which products the set is suitable for

The disc top cap works best with liquid to medium-thick products that can be squeezed out of the bottle in an even stream and do not drip on their own. In practice, this mainly means:

  • shampoos and conditioners – the 500 ml volume is a common format for family or salon use;
  • shower gels and liquid soaps – also suitable for pearlescent and coloured formulas, which the transparent bottle makes visible;
  • body lotions and lighter creams – if they are not too thick, they dispense conveniently through the disc top; for rich creams, a pump or a jar is better;
  • cleansing and micellar waters, toners – thin water-based products dispense easily, but an open disc top will not hold them in if the bottle is turned over.

With thin oils, the disc top works, but the oil may drip from the edge of the opening for a while after closing. For oil-based products we therefore recommend a pump or a closure with a smaller opening.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for when filled normally. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference forms a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents as the temperature changes, so that the product is not pushed out once the cap is fitted. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

With thicker emulsions, let the bottle stand for a moment after filling so that trapped air can escape, and only then fit the cap. This prevents the contents from being pushed out when the disc top is first closed.

What is good to know before filling

A transparent bottle does not protect the contents from light. For formulas with light-sensitive substances (some vegetable oils, vitamins, natural colourants, essential oils), dark glass or opaque plastic is more suitable, or the package should be stored out of direct sunlight. With rinse-off products in the bathroom this is usually not an issue.

PET and temperature. PET is not intended for filling with hot contents – let emulsions and gels cool down to room temperature before filling. Warm contents can deform the bottle, and after cooling the wall may be drawn inward.

PET and the product composition. PET is stable with common water-based and emulsion cosmetic formulas. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents we recommend verifying the behaviour of the package with the specific formulation before filling a larger batch – watch for softening, cloudiness or odour of the material over several weeks.

Preparation before first filling. Wash the bottle and cap, disinfect them with spirit (IPA or ethanol) and let them dry completely. Residual water in the package could disrupt the preservation of the product.

Tightness of the set. The disc top is reliable in normal use. However, during transport press the disc down firmly, and for shipments additionally tape the bottle or wrap it in a bag – under strong pressure the contents may leak out through the opening.

The set is not intended for contact with food. Neither the bottle nor the cap is certified for food use; the set is declared for cosmetic products.

With a transparent package, a transparent label also looks good, leaving the contents visible.

Reuse and recycling. The bottle and cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The bottle is made of PET and belongs in plastic recycling; the cap combines an aluminium shell with a plastic interior.

Frequently asked questions

Is the transparent 500 ml PET bottle with a disc top suitable for shampoo or shower gel?
Yes, shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps are the most suitable products for this set. The disc top opens with one hand and the contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle, which is practical in the shower. The 500 ml volume corresponds to a common family or salon package, and the transparent wall reveals the colour as well as the remaining amount of the product.
Does the transparent PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. For formulas with oils, vitamins or natural colourants that are light-sensitive, it is better to choose a dark or opaque package, or to keep the bottle out of direct sunlight. With rinse-off products in the bathroom, light tends to be less of a problem than with serums and oils.
Can the disc top cap be used for thick creams or oils?
Partly. The disc top works best with liquid to medium-thick products such as lotions, gels and shampoos. Very thick creams are hard to squeeze through the small opening, and thin oils may drip from the edge of the opening after closing. For these products a pump or a jar is recommended, or another closure with the same 24/410 neck.
Can I fill the 500 ml PET bottle with a warm emulsion?
No, let the contents cool down to room temperature before filling. PET is not intended for hot filling – warm contents can deform the bottle and, after cooling, the wall may be drawn inward. This applies to emulsions, gels and soap bases that are prepared while hot.
Is the PET bottle with a disc top suitable for products with essential oils or alcohol?
For common cosmetic doses yes; with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents we recommend verifying the behaviour of the package. PET is stable in water-based and emulsion formulas, but concentrated essential oils or alcoholic extracts can soften or cloud the material over time. Before filling a larger batch, monitor a test bottle for several weeks.
How is the transparent PET bottle with a disc top cleaned before reuse?
Wash the bottle and cap with warm water and detergent, rinse, disinfect with spirit and let them dry completely. The cap disc does not detach, so rinse it thoroughly and blow out any water residue from the opening. A dry and clean package is a prerequisite for the new product not to lose its preservation.
