Rounded Clear Plastic Bottle, Transparent Flip Top, 500 ml

A clear rounded 500 ml PET bottle with a clear flip top cap makes a ready-made set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed with one hand. The cap is opened with the thumb, the contents are pushed out by squeezing the bottle, and a single click closes it again. It is therefore suitable for shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, body lotions, liquid soaps, massage or bath oils, and anything else used at the sink or in the shower.

The clear material shows the colour and the level of the product, so the customer can see what they are buying and how much is left. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped, an advantage over glass that you will appreciate in the bathroom. The 500 ml volume corresponds to a standard pack of shampoo or shower gel and also works as a larger size for sale.

What it is suitable for

• Rinse-off products – shampoos, shower gels, conditioners and liquid soaps; the flip top allows dispensing with a wet hand without unscrewing anything.
• Body lotions and thinner creams – if they can be pushed out by squeezing the bottle; thick creams are difficult to dispense through the small opening of a flip top.
• Massage and bath oils – the clear wall shows the colour of the oil, and the clicked-shut cap limits leakage if the bottle is knocked over.
• Refills and larger packs – 500 ml also works as a stock bottle for refilling smaller packaging.

How the set works

The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, the cap is screwed onto it, and the lid clicks shut when closed. The dispensing opening is small, the contents come out when the walls of the bottle are squeezed, and the bottle returns to its original shape when released. The rounded shape is easy to hold even in a wet hand.

With this type of cap, how well it seals depends on the viscosity of the contents. Thin, watery products may seep through the dispensing opening if the bottle is laid on its side or knocked over, while thicker gels and lotions hold better. Before filling a full production run, test one bottle with your specific formulation, lay it on its side and turn it upside down.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 500 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The physical volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature, and it also allows the bottle to be squeezed without the contents being pushed out immediately. You therefore fill up to the nominal volume, not up to the neck.

Good to know

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. This set is not intended for contact with food, so choose different packaging for homemade oils or syrups.

Clear PET does not provide protection from light. Products containing natural colorants, vitamins, plant extracts or a higher proportion of essential oils, which degrade in light, are better suited to an amber or opaque bottle, or should be stored away from direct light. Neither the bottle nor the cap is intended for aggressive chemicals. Before filling a whole batch, test unrefined oils and formulations with a high content of essential oils or alcohol to check that the material does not react, soften or turn cloudy.

PET is not intended for hot filling. Emulsions, gels and soaps are filled into the bottle only after cooling to room temperature, otherwise the wall of the bottle may become deformed.

The bottle can be reused if it is thoroughly washed and dried and the original contents have not left any odour or discolouration. The cap is harder to clean because of the narrow dispensing channel, so when changing the type of product it is better to use a new one. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene; they are sorted separately for recycling.
