Product description
A clear round plastic bottle with a disc top cap, 500 ml, is a ready-made set for dispensing liquid and cream products. The cap opens with a single press and the contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle, making the set particularly suitable for shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps and body lotions — products used frequently and in larger quantities. The PET bottle is lightweight and break-resistant. The transparent body and cap reveal the colour and consistency of the contents, which is an advantage with coloured or layered products and when monitoring the remaining amount.
How the set works
The disc top cap has a circular disc in the centre that opens when pressed on one side and closes again when pressed on the opposite side. Nothing needs to be unscrewed; dispensing is done with one hand, which is especially convenient in the shower or at the sink. The amount dispensed is controlled by the force applied when squeezing the bottle and the viscosity of the product. A thicker gel or lotion comes out more slowly and with more control; a thin liquid comes out faster.
When closed, the disc covers the opening so the product does not dry out and does not trap dirt. With normal household or bathroom use, the set seals reliably. When transporting finished products, we recommend verifying the seal with your specific product, as very thin contents may seep through the disc opening when lying for a longer period or under pressure in a package.
Suitable products
- Shower gels and liquid soaps – medium viscosity flows through the disc top smoothly and the dose is easy to estimate.
- Shampoos and conditioners – the 500 ml volume corresponds to a standard family or salon size.
- Body lotions and light creams – provided they can be squeezed out of the bottle. Thick creams and butters are difficult to dispense through the disc.
- Gentle cleansing gels – the transparent bottle shows the clarity and colour of the product.
- Household cleaning products based on surfactants, such as all-purpose cleaners, provided they are not aggressive chemicals.
For thin oils and alcoholic tonics, the disc top is less suitable. The contents are difficult to dispense drop by drop, and thin liquids may flow from the opening even without squeezing.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended during normal filling and which you state on the label. Total volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for expansion of the contents with changes in temperature, so that the product is not pushed out during closing and does not press against the cap during transport. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
For foamed products, such as freshly mixed shower gel, allow the mixture to settle before filling until the foam subsides. Filling a foamed mixture to the nominal mark will result in less product after settling than the label states.
What is good to know
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity can be found with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food, so we do not recommend it for homemade syrups or cooking oils.
Before filling for the first time, rinse both the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture in the bottle will dilute the first dose of product and put a strain on the preservative system. The set can be reused. After emptying, wash the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse, disinfect and allow the disc of the cap to dry as well — product residue tends to remain there the longest.
PET is not intended for hot filling. Allow emulsions and gels produced at high temperature to cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may deform. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend verifying compatibility with PET on one piece before filling the entire batch. Some ingredients may gradually soften or cloud the plastic.
The round bottle body is well suited for a self-adhesive label. With a transparent bottle, bear in mind that the colour of the product shows through around the label and becomes part of the packaging appearance.
Caps with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and cap combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour and the performance of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP. Both components belong in the sorted plastic waste collection; simply empty and separate them before disposal.
The transparent bottle does not protect the contents from light. Products containing light-sensitive ingredients, such as vitamin C, retinol or unstable plant oils, should be stored away from direct sunlight, or a dark container should be chosen for them.
