Product description

A white glass medicine bottle with a black fine mist sprayer is a ready-made set for spray cosmetics with a volume of 100 ml. You can also find the bottle and the sprayer separately in our range, but here you get them already matched: the sprayer fits the bottle and seals once tightened, so you only need to fill it and use it.

Opaque white glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents and also hides them from view. It is therefore suitable for toners, hydrosols and other water-based products that benefit from protection against light. The sprayer produces a fine mist, and the smoky overcap protects the head from dust and accidental pressing in a bag or on a shelf. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – thin water-based products, where the sprayer creates an even mist and each dose is applied without any contact with your hands.
  • Hair and body sprays – refreshing waters and light sprays that need to be applied quickly and over a larger area.
  • Hydrating mists and setting sprays – products with active ingredients in a water base, applied several times a day. The contents do not come into contact with your hands.
  • Air fresheners and spray deodorants – water-based or water-alcohol formulations. We recommend checking how an alcohol-based product behaves in the packaging before a larger production run.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for with normal filling. The brimful capacity, that is the physical volume up to the neck, is slightly larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If it is filled right to the brim, the contents will overflow through the neck when you screw on the sprayer.

One press of the sprayer releases approximately 0.12 ml. A full bottle therefore provides several hundred doses. This figure helps when estimating consumption and when calculating how much preservative and how many active ingredients reach the skin with a single application.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times to push any remaining water out of the tube and the mechanism. Moisture in the bottle would dilute the product and put a strain on the preservative system.

The sprayer works best with thin water-based liquids. Thicker emulsions, oils or products containing a thickener may clog the head or come out as a stream instead of a mist. Check how they behave with a small amount before you fill the whole batch.

The sprayer is made of polypropylene. If the product contains a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, leave the filled packaging to stand for several weeks and check whether the plastic changes shape or colour, or whether the seal loosens.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let warm toners and hydrosols cool to room temperature and only then fill the bottle, as hot contents may damage it.

The packaging can be used repeatedly. Once the contents are used up, wash the bottle, rinse the sprayer with clean water and pump it, leave everything to dry and disinfect it before refilling. For recycling, glass belongs with glass and the sprayer with plastic, so separate them before disposal.

If you combine the bottle with another closure from the Handymade range, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, opaque white glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents. It is therefore suitable for hydrosols, toners and water-based products with active ingredients that break down or change colour in light. It also hides the contents, so any discolouration of the product is not visible from the outside.
Does a sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish fit a medicine bottle with an 18/410 neck finish?
Yes, a sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish fits this bottle with an 18/410 neck finish and seals once tightened. The set is assembled from exactly this pair, so you do not need to put it together from individual parts. A pump with an 18/415 neck finish from the Handymade range also fits the bottle, if you want to dispense the product instead of spraying it.
Can oil or an oil serum be used in this sprayer?
Oil-based products behave worse in a sprayer than water-based ones. Pure oil and thicker blends often do not produce a mist, come out as a stream or clog the head after a while. If you want to spray an oil-based product, first test it in a single bottle and check whether the dose remains even after several days.
How much liquid does one press of the sprayer release?
One press releases approximately 0.12 ml. A 100 ml bottle therefore provides approximately eight hundred doses. This figure applies to thin water-based liquids; with thicker or alcohol-based products the actual dose may differ and we recommend measuring it.
How many millilitres should the medicine bottle be filled with?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The brimful capacity is slightly larger, and this difference serves as a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents leak through the neck when you screw on the sprayer.
Is the set suitable for food, for example for oils or syrups?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. The bottle and the sprayer carry a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetics, and the packaging is intended for that purpose. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions, choose packaging from the Handymade range whose parameters state that it is suitable for food contact.
