White glass dropper bottle is a ready-made set for serums, oils and tinctures that require precise drop-by-drop dosing and protection from light. The bottle and cap are matched, so you do not need to find a suitable dropper separately. The opaque white glass limits light access to the contents, which is especially appreciated with oil serums, facial oils with essential oils, tinctures or concentrates of active ingredients whose stability is affected by light. The dropper dispenses drop by drop, so the set is suitable wherever the customer applies a small amount directly to the skin or measures out an ingredient into another formulation.

What the set offers

• Protection of contents from light – white opaque glass limits light penetration and thus slows the degradation of sensitive ingredients, such as unsaturated vegetable oils, vitamins or essential oils.

What the set is suitable for

Thanks to its volume and drop-by-drop dosing, this is a typical container for facial serums with an oil or water base, facial and hair oils, beard oils, nail and cuticle oils, active ingredient concentrates intended for blending into creams and herbal tinctures or drops containing alcohol. Thin water-based products such as tonics or hydrolates are also dispensed reliably by the dropper. For larger amounts per application, a spray bottle is more practical.

The set is less suitable for thick emulsions and creams, which cannot be drawn up with a dropper. With oils of higher viscosity (such as castor oil or blends with a high proportion of butters in liquid form), drops form more slowly, which is worth taking into account when designing the formulation.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount for which the container is designed for normal filling, and it is this figure that appears on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical internal volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the submerged dropper tube and for slight expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will overflow when the dropper is inserted and contaminate the thread, which will impair the seal. Both values can be found in the product parameters.

How the dropper works and what to watch out for

The dropper consists of a threaded cap, silicone bulb and glass tube. Squeezing the bulb expels air; when released, the tube draws up the contents, and gentle squeezing dispenses it drop by drop. When screwing on, tighten the cap only moderately. Glass and plastic do not require great force to seal, and overtightening can damage the thread.

The tamper-evident ring cracks and detaches on first opening; it is a single-use element. When reusing the set, this function will no longer be available, but the dropper will continue to seal and dispense normally.

The tube is glass and may crack if dropped on a hard surface. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or for alcohol-based tinctures, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the silicone bulb with the specific formulation.

What is good to know when filling and using

• Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil product promotes the growth of microorganisms.
• Reuse – glass can be reused after washing. Rinse the silicone bulb and tube thoroughly, as oil residues cling to them. When changing the formulation, it is better to replace the dropper.
• Labelling – the straight cylindrical wall allows a label to be applied around the full circumference. Label-suitable dimensions can be found in the product parameters.
• Temperature – glass tolerates normal temperatures for cold filling as well as slightly warmed oil blends, but avoid sudden temperature changes. Hot contents should not be put into a cold bottle.
• Other closures – the bottle has a standard neck type specified in the parameters, so it can also be combined with other closures of the same neck type from the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.
• Recycling – the bottle goes in the glass bin. The dropper is a combination of plastic, silicone and glass; before disposing of it, separate the glass tube from the plastic part.
