Is this glass bottle also suitable for products containing alcohol or essential oils?

Glass packaging is generally very suitable for formulations containing alcohol, essential oils and other more volatile or more reactive components, because glass is a chemically stable and inert material. However, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test of the specific recipe with the packaging and the closure in order to verify long-term stability, sealing and the behaviour of the product during storage.

How can I safely use the bottle repeatedly?

The glass bottle can be reused provided that strict hygiene principles are observed. Before each refilling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned, any residues of the previous product removed and then disinfected. Disinfection using isopropyl alcohol (IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol) or vegetable ethanol (Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable) is, for example, suitable. Only after the inner surface has completely dried is the bottle ready for a new filling.

How should I correctly clean the glass bottle before further use?

Before reuse we recommend first rinsing the bottle with warm water and a suitable cleaning agent and mechanically removing any product residues. Then rinse the packaging thoroughly with clean water and let it drain. After cleaning it is important to carry out disinfection – for example using products available on Handymade, such as IPA 99 isopropyl alcohol 1 l or ethanol 96 denatured vegetable 1 l. Only after it is completely dry is the bottle ready for a new filling.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle this packaging if I do not want to use it further?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material specified in the parameter table for the product. The glass bottle can usually be placed in the glass collection container after being emptied and basically rinsed, and the plastic cap generally belongs in the separate plastic waste. Before handing it over for separate collection, it is advisable to remove any product residues and labels from the packaging if required by local recycling rules.
