Product description
The aluminium bottle with a gold pump is a ready-to-fill combination of container and dispenser for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic formulations. Aluminium blocks the contents completely from light, the bottle is lightweight and, unlike glass, will not shatter, making it suitable for the bathroom, travel and customer shipments. The dispenser with a black head and gold ring dispenses without unscrewing, which makes everyday use more hygienic and convenient.
The nominal volume of 200 ml is a practical size for body lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos and body oils. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Why choose aluminium and a pump
- Complete light protection – the metal wall blocks both UV and visible light, helping to protect vegetable oils, essential oils and sensitive active ingredients from oxidation and loss of scent.
- Low weight and durability – the bottle is significantly lighter than a glass one of the same volume and will not shatter when dropped. This reduces shipping costs and the risk of damage.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are neither scooped with fingers nor poured. The pump delivers an approximately consistent dose, approximately 1 ml, equivalent to a single use of body lotion or liquid soap.
- Appearance with or without a label – the silver metal and black-and-gold dispenser look finished even without printing. The smooth cylindrical surface also takes a label well.
For which formulations is it suitable
The dispenser works best with liquid to medium-viscosity formulations: body lotions, light emulsions, liquid soaps, shampoos, conditioners, oils and oil serums. Thick creams, butters and high-viscosity gels will not be drawn in by the pump or will require significant effort to dispense. For these, a jar or pot is more appropriate. Very fluid, watery contents (tonics, hydrolats) can be dispensed, but the pump may drip after pressing. For these, consider a spray with the same thread type instead.
The bottle is not transparent, so the fill level is not visible. When filling, we recommend measuring the volume or weighing the contents.
Aluminium is not suitable for every formulation. For aqueous preparations with a low pH (fruit acids, acidic tonics), with a high salt content or with free alkalis, we recommend carrying out a stability test in the bottle for several weeks before filling an entire batch and monitoring changes in colour, scent and the condition of the inner surface.
Filling and volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides clearance for the dip tube and pump body, which occupy part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck when the pump is screwed on.
Before screwing in the pump for the first time, hold the dispenser against the bottle and check that the dip tube reaches the bottom without bending. If it is too long, trim it with a sharp knife at an oblique cut just above the bottom. This allows the pump to draw up the last residue of the contents and prevents the tube from kinking inside the bottle.
Preparation and reuse
- Before first filling, rinse the bottle with clean water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely upside down. Flush the dip tube and pump body with ethanol and then with clean water; press the head several times on empty to clear any residue.
- Reuse is possible as long as the thread is undamaged and the pump seals correctly. Before a new fill, clean both the container and the dispenser in the same way as before the first filling. Oily residue is better removed with warm water and a surfactant, followed by a final clean with ethanol.
- Careful handling – aluminium can deform on impact and the neck may then no longer seal. Do not fill with hot contents; metal heats up quickly. Allow the formulation to cool to room temperature before filling.
- Recycling – the bottle is a metal aluminium container; the dispenser is a composite part made of plastic and metal. Separate them before disposal and sort by material.
Closures with the same thread type are listed in the parameters; further ready-made container-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and the behaviour of the container with your specific formulation.
