A wooden wick with a holder is designed for making container candles where the flame is meant not only to burn, but also to crackle softly. It consists of a single natural wood slat that gives the candle a sound and appearance no cotton wick can match. The set includes a metal holder that keeps the wick upright on the bottom of the container, so it does not need to be supported during pouring.

The wick is made from certified wood. The manufacturer describes it as natural, allergen-free and biodegradable.

How it differs from a cotton wick

Candle-making process

Once the wax has set, trim the wick. A wick that is too long burns with a high flame and may smoke; one that is too short will be submerged by the melted wax and go out.

Before each subsequent lighting, remove the charred portion of the wick. Burnt wood residue should not remain in the wax.

Wood is a natural material, so individual wicks may vary slightly in grain and shade.
A high fragrance oil or dye load can weaken the flame. If the flame diminishes, reducing the fragrance amount or switching to a thicker slat will help.
