Product description
The aluminium bottle with a white mini trigger sprayer, 100 ml, is a set for liquid cosmetic products applied by spraying: facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing body and hair sprays or alcohol-based perfumed waters. Aluminium is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so the bottle withstands being carried in a handbag or a sports bag. The metal wall is completely opaque, so the contents are not exposed to light, which accelerates colour fading and changes in fragrance. The sprayer with a smooth collar fits the 24/410 neck and releases a fine mist when pressed. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
- Toners and hydrosols – the sprayer disperses thin water-based products evenly over the face, scalp or body without them running off in a stream.
- Alcohol-based and perfumed sprays – body mists, hair perfumes and refreshing sprays containing alcohol are handled by the mechanism, and the metal bottle protects them from light.
- Hair sprays – low-viscosity leave-in conditioners, blends of hydrosols with water-soluble active ingredients or anti-frizz sprays.
- Travel size – the 100 ml volume corresponds to the usual limit for liquids in hand luggage, and the metal wall withstands a tightly packed bag.
What to know about the contents
The mini trigger sprayer is designed for liquids with low viscosity. Thicker oils, gels and emulsions are not dispersed into a mist, the spray is often uneven and the nozzle becomes blocked over time. Thin dry oils may work, but test them on a small sample before filling a larger batch. One press releases approximately 0.2 ml of product, which helps when estimating consumption or for sprays with precise dispensing.
Aluminium may react with water-based products, especially acidic or alkaline ones or those with a higher salt content, unless the inside of the bottle is protected by a lacquer. Information on the inner coating of this bottle is not available, so we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation. Fill one bottle, leave it to stand for several weeks and watch for changes in colour, cloudiness, fragrance and the condition of the inner wall. The risk is usually lower for alcohol-based sprays and products with a pH close to neutral, but the check applies to them as well.
The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it so that, once screwed on, it reaches just above the bottom, and cut the end at an angle. The sprayer then draws up the contents down to the last millilitres and does not rest against the bottom.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total brimful volume, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides room for the dip tube and the sprayer mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. A bottle filled to the brim overflows when the sprayer is screwed on and the contents get into the thread.
Preparation, cleaning and reuse
Before the first filling, rinse the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Do not clean the metal wall with abrasive products or a wire scourer, as they would damage the surface. After emptying the contents, rinse the sprayer with clean water and spray several times to clear the nozzle and the valve. When changing the type of contents, for example from perfumed water to a hydrosol, bear in mind that fragrance residues are harder to remove from the plastic mechanism than from the bottle.
A metal bottle conducts heat quickly and expands when warmed. Do not fill it with hot contents and do not leave it filled in direct sunlight or in a car. The pressure inside rises and the sprayer may spit instead of spraying when pressed.
Aluminium is one of the recyclable metals, and the polypropylene sprayer is sorted as plastic, so the two parts are separated before disposal.
Neck and other closures
The bottle has a 24/410 neck. Other closures in the Handymade range have the same neck type, for example caps, pumps or sprayers in a different colour, and ready-made combinations of packaging with a closure have their own description. When putting together your own combination, check the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
