Plastic bottle, amber, white mini trigger sprayer, 100 ml

This amber plastic bottle (100 ml) with a white mini trigger sprayer is a complete set for water-based and light alcohol-based formulations applied as a mist. Amber PET filters light, so sun-sensitive contents such as hydrosols, toners with active ingredients or herbal extracts in alcohol keep better than in a clear bottle. The plastic is lightweight and does not break, so the set is just as suitable for a handbag, travel or a bathroom where glass is a nuisance.

Both parts have the same 24/410 neck finish and are supplied matched, so once the bottle is filled you simply screw the sprayer on. The smooth white collar on the amber bottle looks understated, and the combination suits both natural and minimalist cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

• Facial toners and hydrosols – thin water-based solutions are dispersed evenly by the sprayer, and the skin does not need to touch the neck of the bottle.
• Refreshing and setting sprays – a mist for the face, hair or décolleté is dispensed in small amounts, so the contents last a long time.
• Deodorant sprays and alcohol-based solutions – tinctures, hand sprays or shoe sprays. With a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves.
• Leave-in hair sprays – as long as they stay liquid. The sprayer cannot cope with thicker emulsions and gels.

How to use the set

The mini trigger sprayer draws up the contents through a tube that is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom. A diagonal end does not stick to the bottom and draws up even the last millilitres. One press releases approximately 0.2 ml, so the sprayer dispenses small, easily controlled amounts.

After filling, press the mechanism several times to prime it until the contents rise through the tube and a mist appears. The sprayer is designed for contents with a viscosity close to that of water. Oils, emulsions or thickened solutions are either not drawn up or are pushed out as a jet instead of a mist.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for with normal filling. The brimful volume, given in the parameters, corresponds to the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the sprayer mechanism and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. For this reason, fill the bottle only up to the nominal volume. If it were filled to the brim, part of the contents would be pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on, and the sprayer could leak.

Let the contents cool before filling. PET is not intended for hot filling, and the packaging should be protected from heat.

Good to know

• Preparation before first filling – rinse the bottle, disinfect it if necessary with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry thoroughly. Rinse the sprayer by spraying clean water through it and then air, so that the tube is emptied.
• Reuse – the set can be washed and filled again if the thread is undamaged and the sprayer has not lost pressure. When changing to a different fragrance, allow for more thorough cleaning, as traces of fragrance linger in the tube.
• Contact with cosmetics – the packaging is declared suitable for use with cosmetic products. The set is not approved for direct contact with food, so edible oils, syrups and drinks do not belong in it.
• Your own combination – another closure with the same neck finish from the Handymade range can also be fitted to a bottle with a 24/410 neck. With your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
• Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. Before disposal, take the set apart and put both parts into the plastics recycling collection.
