Product description
The white plastic bottle with a mini trigger sprayer is a ready-made set for water-based and alcohol-based cosmetic products applied by spraying: facial toners, hydrosols, hair sprays, skin refreshers, hand disinfectant solutions or foot sprays. The bottle is made of PET, it is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it is also suitable for products that are carried in a bag or used in the bathroom. The white opaque wall reduces light transmission, so the contents are not exposed to direct light the way they are in clear packaging. The sprayer with a smooth white collar is screwed onto the 24/410 neck and dispenses approximately 0.2 ml with one press.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for use with cosmetic products. In addition, the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, while the sprayer does not, so the bottle and sprayer set is intended for cosmetics.
What it is suitable for
- Toners and hydrosols – thin water-based products that the sprayer disperses into an even mist for the face or body.
- Hair sprays – water-based or mildly alcohol-based solutions for refreshing and smoothing hair, where spraying is more convenient than rubbing the product in.
- Disinfectant and refreshing sprays – alcohol-based solutions for hands or feet, dispensed in small amounts.
The 250 ml volume suits products for daily use that are refilled within a few weeks. For small samples or a travel pack, a smaller size from our range is more suitable.
The sprayer and what can pass through it
The mini trigger sprayer works without compressed gas. With each press of the head, the solution is drawn up through the tube and pushed out through the nozzle as a mist. It works best with products that have a viscosity close to water. Thicker serums, emulsions, gels or pure oils either do not pass through the nozzle or come out in drops, and the head quickly becomes clogged. Before filling a larger batch, it is worth testing the specific formulation in a single bottle and observing the shape of the spray as well as the behaviour of the head after a few days.
Solutions with a higher proportion of oils or with undissolved particles (unfiltered herbal infusions, scrub sprays) clog the sprayer. Filter infusions and solubilise oils in the spray so that the solution stays clear and fluid.
A dose of approximately 0.2 ml per press helps when estimating consumption. For a toner, where three to four presses are used on the face, 250 ml lasts for more than three hundred applications. This value can be used as a starting point when setting the recommended usage.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of the bottle is 250 ml. This is the amount that is filled into the bottle in normal use. The physical volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference provides a reserve for the tube and valve of the sprayer, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled up to the neck, the solution would overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and the head would draw unevenly during the first presses.
Good to know
Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing the bottle and the sprayer before use, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. The sprayer is rinsed by immersing the tube in the disinfectant solution and pressing the head several times, then doing the same with clean water.
Reuse. Both the PET bottle and the PP sprayer withstand repeated washing and disinfection. Before refilling, check that the tube is not kinked and that the head sprays smoothly after pressing. Dried residue of the previous product in the nozzle is the most common reason why a sprayer stops working.
Material and contents. PET is a common material for water-based and alcohol-based cosmetic products. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, strong solvents or aggressive cleaning ingredients, we recommend checking the behaviour of the packaging in the finished product: watch for changes in the shape of the bottle, clouding of the wall and the tightness of the connection with the sprayer after a few weeks.
Do not fill the bottle with hot contents. At higher temperatures PET changes shape, and the wall may shrink or deform. Let solutions cool to room temperature before filling.
Closures. The set already includes a sprayer. If you need a different closure for the same bottle, in the Handymade range you will find other closures with the same 24/410 neck finish as well as ready-made bottle and closure combinations. When making your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. For disposal, the two parts are separated and sorted as plastic.
