Product description
Aluminium bottle with aluminium cap, 50 ml, is a ready-to-fill set for cosmetics that need to be protected from light and kept at hand even when travelling. Aluminium blocks light and UV radiation, is lightweight and shatterproof. It is particularly suitable for face, body, massage and hair oils, oil-based serums and anhydrous preparations that oxidise and lose quality when exposed to light.
The set consists of a bottle with a 24/410 neck and a screw-on aluminium cap with the same thread. The cap has an inner foam polyethylene (EPE) sealing liner that rests on the neck rim and seals the contents during regular storage and transport. Both the bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The set as a whole is not intended for food.
Why the aluminium set is useful
- Complete light protection – aluminium is opaque, so the contents are not reached by daylight or UV radiation. For oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, fragrance compositions and preparations with sensitive active ingredients, this is a practical advantage over clear glass or plastic.
- Low weight and shatter resistance – the bottle is significantly lighter than glass and will not break if dropped. Suitable for travel sizes, samples in shipments and products that customers carry in a bag.
- Easy closure – the screw cap with sealing liner closes and opens quickly without tools, which you will appreciate when hand-filling smaller batches.
- Uniform metallic appearance – the bottle and cap have the same silver finish. The set looks cohesive, is easy to label and requires no additional design element beyond the label.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always larger. The difference forms a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling may cause the contents to spill into the thread when closing or may reduce the seal. Precise values for both volumes are given in the product parameters.
Preparation, filling and closing
Before the first fill, we recommend rinsing both the bottle and the cap, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Aluminium conducts heat, so the bottle warms up quickly to the touch after being filled with warm contents. Allow hot mixtures to cool before filling to avoid pressure build-up after closing. The 24/410 neck is quite narrow, so a narrow funnel or a dispensing bottle with a thin nozzle helps during filling; otherwise the dripping oil will remain in the thread.
Tighten the cap by hand, not by force. The EPE sealing liner seals the neck with only moderate tightening. Excessive force deforms the liner and the seal will deteriorate over time.
The wall of the aluminium bottle is thin and may be permanently deformed by strong pressure or impact. Do not compress the bottles during storage and packing for shipment; when storing larger quantities, stack them so they do not press against each other.
Suitable for products such as
- Face, body and hair oils – anhydrous preparations whose shelf life is shortened by light.
- Oil serums and blends with essential oils – metal does not absorb the scent of the contents.
- Massage and botanical oils in a smaller size – the 50 ml volume is practical for testing a new formula.
- Travel versions of products – a shatterproof and lightweight container is safer in luggage than glass.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made packaging + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Good to know
Aluminium without a protective inner coating may react with aqueous, acidic or saline formulations, so the set is the safest choice for anhydrous and oil-based contents. If you plan to fill tonics, hydrolates, emulsions or preparations with a lower pH, test the packaging behaviour on a single unit first and monitor any change in colour or scent of the contents over several weeks.
The set is not approved for contact with food. Do not use it for culinary oils, syrups or herbal extracts intended for consumption.
The bottle can be reused after thorough washing and drying. The sealing liner in the cap gradually wears out with repeated opening and contact with oils. When reusing, therefore check whether the cap still seals and replace it if necessary. When labelling, account for the cylindrical shape of the bottle and the rounded shoulder. Both the bottle and the cap are made of aluminium and should be placed in metal recycling after use.
