Product description

The aluminium bottle with a white and gold pump combines unbreakable packaging with single-press dispensing. Aluminium blocks light, so the contents are protected throughout use. You will appreciate this with vegetable oils, serums with active ingredients and other products whose shelf life is shortened by light and oxidation. The nominal volume of 50 ml suits a travel size, a customer sample or a product that is used up before it can lose its effectiveness.

The set consists of a silver aluminium bottle with a 24/410 neck finish and a plastic pump in white and gold, whose metal part is made of aluminium. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food.

Suitable for

  • Serums and light emulsions – the pump releases approximately 1 ml per press, which for a serum corresponds to a usual dose for the face and neck. Nothing needs to be measured out.
  • Face and body oils – the pump prevents spilling and dripping down the packaging, while the opaque bottle protects oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids from light.
  • Liquid soap, cleansing gels and body lotions in small sizes – the contents remain sealed during dispensing, so neither fingers nor water from the sink get into the bottle.
  • Samples and test batches – a volume of 50 ml is enough for first customer feedback and for a stability test in the packaging in which the product will be sold.

The pump handles liquid to medium-thick products. Thick creams, butters and balms will not pass through the dip tube.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is designed under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical space up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

A pump cannot be screwed onto an overfilled bottle without displacing the contents, because the dip tube and the mechanism take up part of the space. Fill to 50 ml and wipe the neck dry before screwing on the pump so that the thread seals properly.

The dip tube of the pump is supplied longer than the height of the bottle requires. Before first use, shorten it so that its end reaches the bottom of the bottle and is not bent. After screwing on the pump, prime it by pressing it several times until it delivers a full dose.

Cut the dip tube at an angle. An angled cut will not seal against the aluminium at the bottom, and the pump draws up the product right down to the last drop.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water and also leave it to dry, as residual water in the mechanism would dilute the first dose.

Aluminium conducts heat, so fill emulsions and gels only once they have cooled. A hot phase would needlessly heat the whole bottle.

We recommend verifying the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation in a stability test directly in this set. Monitor the tightness of the thread, the consistency of the dose and any change in the colour or fragrance of the contents. The same applies if you combine the bottle with a different closure. You will find closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. The pump consists of several parts that cannot be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly. For repeated use, therefore, keep it with the same type of product, or replace it with a new one.

The aluminium bottle is recycled as metal packaging. The pump combines plastic and aluminium.

The set withstands a fall and pressure in a make-up bag without breaking, so it is suitable for travel sizes and for customers who carry the product with them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the aluminium bottle with a pump protect the contents from light?
Yes, aluminium is completely opaque and neither daylight nor artificial light penetrates to the contents. The bottle is therefore suitable for vegetable oils, serums with vitamins and plant extracts, which lose effectiveness or change colour in light. Protection from light does not replace an antioxidant in the formulation, but it does limit one of the causes of deterioration of the contents.
How much product does the white and gold pump release per press?
Approximately 1 ml. For a serum or an oil this corresponds to one dose for the face and neck, while a body lotion requires more presses. The actual dose volume also depends on the viscosity of the product and is usually slightly smaller with thicker emulsions. We therefore recommend weighing it for your specific formulation.
Is the aluminium bottle with a pump suitable for thick creams and balms?
No, the pump is designed for liquid to medium-thick products. Thick creams, butters and balms will not pass through the dip tube and the pump will start to draw in air. A jar or a bottle with a cap is more suitable for thick textures. For light lotions and serums, a pump is more convenient than a dropper.
Can the aluminium bottle with a pump be reused?
Yes, it is enough to wash the bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry. The pump cannot be taken apart, so its internal mechanism cannot be cleaned completely. For repeated use, keep it with the same type of product. For a new product or for sale to customers, use a new pump.
Why does a 50 ml aluminium bottle hold more than 50 ml?
Because the brimful volume is larger than the nominal volume for which the bottle is designed. The difference serves as a reserve for the dip tube of the pump, its mechanism and the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 50 ml. If the pump were screwed onto an overfilled bottle, the contents would overflow.
