Product description
The glass bottle with sprayer is a ready-made set for facial toners, hydrolates, facial sprays and hair or body mists. The amber glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, and the sprayer applies the product in a fine mist, evenly and without your hands touching the contents.
The set consists of a bottle with a straight top and a 24/410 neck finish, and a black mini trigger sprayer with a glossy silver collar. The 100 ml volume is enough for a facial toner that lasts several weeks, for room and fabric sprays in a smaller size, or for samples and gift sets. The whole set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial toners and hydrolates – thin water-based solutions are the most natural contents for a mini trigger sprayer, the mist is fine and the dose is small.
- Facial and body sprays – refreshing mists, sprays with hyaluronic acid or glycerine, thermal or herbal waters.
- Alcohol-based products – eau de parfum or herbal tinctures in spray form, as glass does not react with alcohol.
- Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – provided their consistency is thin enough for the sprayer to disperse.
- Room and fabric sprays – fragrance blends in a water-alcohol base.
How the set dispenses
The mini trigger sprayer draws the contents up through a dip tube, and a single press releases approximately 0.12 ml. For a facial toner this corresponds to two to three presses per use, which makes it easier to estimate consumption and to calculate the cost of one pack.
The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first filling, shorten it so that it ends just above the bottom. The contents can then be used up almost completely, and the tube does not bend when you screw the sprayer on.
The sprayer is intended for low-viscosity liquids. Water-based solutions, hydrolates, alcohol-based blends and very thin emulsions such as spray milks pass through the nozzle without problems. Thick serums, gels and oils are too much for the sprayer, and a stream comes out of the nozzle instead of a mist.
Before filling a whole batch, test the sprayer with a small amount of your own formulation. This lets you check the mist, the tightness after screwing it on, and whether the nozzle clogs after a few days, especially with contents containing particles or solubilised oils.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling, and it is also the volume stated as the product content. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference forms a reserve for the sprayer, which, together with the dip tube, takes up part of the space in the neck once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents are pushed out when you screw the sprayer on and the closure may not seal.
Good to know
Preparation before the first filling. Wash the bottle and the sprayer before use, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let them dry completely, including the tube. Residual water in the tube would dilute the first doses and, in preserved water-based products, lower the concentration of the preservative.
Materials. The bottle is made of glass, and the sprayer combines plastic (PP) with aluminium. For fragrance compositions with a high proportion of essential oils, or for solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic parts behave in contact with your specific formulation, as with any plastic closure.
Glass and temperature. Do not pour hot solutions into the bottle. Let the contents cool to room temperature, as a sudden change in temperature can damage the glass and warm contents increase the pressure under the closure.
Food. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The sprayer does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. If you need a spray for food use, combine the bottle with a closure of food-grade quality.
Other closures. You will find closures with the same 24/410 neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Do not transport the bottle with sprayer lying on its side without testing its tightness first. The mini trigger sprayer is not a pressure-tight closure, and the contents may seep out around the thread if the bottle is shaken.
Reuse and recycling. After thorough washing and disinfection, the glass bottle can be reused. Replace the sprayer if it clogs after rinsing or stops sealing. Glass belongs in glass recycling; separate the sprayer, made of plastic and metal, from the bottle before disposal.
