Product description

The amber glass medicine bottle with white dropper, 10 ml, is used for filling and dispensing liquid cosmetics drop by drop. Amber glass filters light, so contents that are sensitive to sunlight and oxidation, such as a facial serum, an oil concentrate or an essential oil blend, keep better in this packaging than in a clear bottle. The dropper with tamper-evident ring screws directly onto the neck and dispenses exactly as many drops as the recipe or application requires.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and oil concentrates – the small volume and drop-by-drop dispensing suit products of which only a few drops are used per application.
  • Essential oil blends – amber glass protects the fragrance components from light, and the dropper makes it easier to measure the blend into a diffuser, a massage oil or another recipe.
  • Samples and test batches – when trying out a new formulation, you only need to fill a small amount and observe how it behaves over time.
  • Nail, lip or eye area care – cuticle oils and similar products are applied from the dropper precisely to a small area.
  • Hair and beard oils for travel – the tall shape of the medicine bottle takes up little space, and the dropper can be screwed back on without spilling.

How the set works

The type B medicine bottle has a tall, narrow shape and a neck with an 18 mm thread. The length of the dropper is matched to the tall body, and the glass tube reaches deep enough to draw the contents even from a lower level. Squeezing the silicone part draws the liquid in, it stays in the tube after release, and it is dispensed drop by drop by tilting the dropper over the point of application.

The white dropper cap is made of polypropylene (PP) and closes the packaging once tightened. Before travelling or transporting a larger number of pieces, we recommend checking the tightness with your specific formulation. Very thin alcohol-based contents behave differently from thick oils.

Thick oils and gel-like serums are drawn up more slowly with the dropper, and the drop is usually larger. If the formulation requires precise measuring, test the dispensing before filling the whole batch.

Nominal volume and brimful volume

The medicine bottle is designed to be filled up to the nominal volume of 10 ml. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill it up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the neck when the dropper is inserted and soil the thread, which impairs the seal.

Good to know

Before the first filling, we recommend you wash the medicine bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the glass tube would get into an anhydrous oil or serum and could reduce its stability.

Do not fill the glass with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Let the formulation cool to room temperature before filling. With essential oil blends, this also limits the loss of volatile components.

The set can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, wash and disinfect the packaging thoroughly, take the dropper apart and rinse both the glass tube and the silicone part. With high concentrations of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend checking the contact with the silicone and plastic parts of the dropper on your specific formulation.

Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The set with the dropper is not approved for food contact, it is not recommended for homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions, and it is intended for cosmetics.

Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, as well as other ready-made combinations of a medicine bottle with a closure, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The glass medicine bottle belongs in glass recycling. Before disposal, separate the dropper and sort the plastic and silicone parts separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does an amber glass medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass filters light and limits its effect on sensitive ingredients. It is therefore suitable for serums with active ingredients, vegetable oils prone to oxidation and essential oil blends. It does not provide complete protection, however, so we recommend storing the packaging away from direct sunlight and adding an antioxidant to very sensitive formulations.
How many ml should go into a 10 ml medicine bottle with a dropper?
Fill the medicine bottle with 10 ml, which is the nominal volume stated in the name. The brimful volume is larger, and the difference serves as a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill the medicine bottle to the brim, part of the contents is pushed out through the neck when the dropper is screwed in and soils the thread.
Is the medicine bottle with a dropper suitable for homemade oils or syrups?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, the dropper does not. The set of the medicine bottle with the white dropper is declared suitable for cosmetic products, for example serums, facial oils or essential oil blends.
Can a glass medicine bottle with a dropper be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the dropper can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. Take the dropper apart, rinse the glass tube and the silicone part, and let everything dry completely. With sensitive formulations, especially anhydrous serums, it is advisable to check after repeated use whether the contents change in scent or colour.
Is a medicine bottle with a dropper suitable for alcohol tinctures and essential oils?
The glass medicine bottle is suitable for water-based, alcohol-based and oil-based contents. During dispensing, the contents come into contact with the glass tube of the dropper, the silicone part and the PP cap. With concentrated essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the dropper on your specific formulation, because it depends on the composition and concentration of the contents.
