Product description
The glass bottle, a dropper vial with a white dropper 15 ml is a complete ready-to-use kit for dispensing by drops: an amber glass dropper vial and a dropper with a tamper-evident ring. Both parts have the same neck type, which is why we offer them as a proven combination that requires no testing. It is suitable wherever the contents are used in small amounts and need protection from light, for example for facial serums, oils or tinctures. The kit is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
Why amber glass and a dropper
- Protection from light – amber glass reduces light penetration, which accelerates the oxidation of vegetable oils, vitamins and essential oils. The contents will retain their scent and efficacy longer without the need for opaque packaging.
- Chemical resistance of glass – glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, does not release odours into the contents and can be thoroughly cleaned.
- Precise dosing – the dropper allows you to draw and measure the contents drop by drop. With serums and concentrated oils, this means less waste and cleaner handling than pouring through the neck.
- Tamper-evident ring – when first opened, the ring separates, so both the customer and the manufacturer can see that the packaging has not yet been opened. When selling finished products, this is a practical guarantee of integrity.
- Small volume – 15 ml corresponds to a travel size, sample or concentrated serum that is used up before it begins to oxidise.
What the kit is suitable for
It works best with leave-on products of low to medium viscosity that can flow through the dropper: water-based and oil-based facial serums, facial and beard oils, nail cuticle oils, oil blends with essential oils, tinctures and herbal macerations in an alcohol base. It is also suitable for samples and test packages for customers.
It is less suitable for thick creams, butters and gels with high viscosity. The dropper will not pick them up and the contents are difficult to dispense through the narrow neck.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended for normal filling, and this is the figure you state on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them forms a reserve into which the glass tube of the dropper is submerged after screwing on, and space for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the dropper is fitted.
When filling on a production line or by hand, try on a single bottle to see how far the contents rise once the dropper is fitted. The level should remain below the neck even with the tube inserted.
What is good to know
- Preparation before first filling – we recommend washing the glass and dropper, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes the growth of microorganisms.
- Dropper and neat essential oils – the flexible squeeze part of the dropper is made of silicone, followed by a glass tube and a plastic cap. For blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, the kit is a common choice. For undiluted essential oils and strong solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the squeeze part with prolonged contact.
- Water-based products – water-based serums require a preservative system regardless of the packaging. The dropper comes into contact with skin and air during use, which increases the demands on preservation.
- Reuse – the glass can be used multiple times, and the dropper too after washing. However, when changing the contents, for example from essential oils to a serum, odours may remain in the silicone part. In that case, a new dropper is more suitable.
- Labelling – the cylindrical shape allows a wraparound label to be applied. The bottle dimensions can be found in the product parameters.
- Glass and heat – do not pour hot mixtures into the bottle and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes.
- Recycling – before disposal, separate the bottle from the dropper. Glass goes in the glass bin; the dropper consists of plastic, silicone and a glass tube, so as a whole it cannot be recycled together with glass.
The kit is not intended for contact with food. Use it for cosmetics, tinctures and similar preparations, not for edible oils or syrups.
