FAQ – Most frequent questions

Is this bottle suitable for repeated use?

The packaging can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the cap must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose, you can use products available on Handymade, such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetal. Only after thorough drying is the packaging ready to be filled again.

How should I properly clean and disinfect the bottle before further use?

First mechanically remove the residues of the original product and rinse the bottle with warm water and a suitable cleaning agent. Then use a disinfecting alcohol – for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetal – with which you rinse the inside of the packaging and the closure. After disinfection, let all parts dry naturally in a clean place away from dust. Only a completely dry packaging is suitable for new filling.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle this bottle if I no longer want to use it?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it according to the type of plastic specified in the product parameters. Before placing it in sorted waste, empty the bottle and, if possible, rinse it so that no significant residues of the contents remain. Then place the packaging in the appropriate collection container according to local waste sorting rules (for example a yellow container for plastics, if the collection system in your area allows it). Recycle the cap according to the same system or according to the material specified in the parameters.

Can I wash this plastic bottle in a dishwasher or boil it?

Plastic packaging of this type is not intended to be exposed to high temperatures, therefore washing it in a dishwasher or boiling it is not recommended. When exposed to hot water or steam, the packaging may deform or the properties of the material may deteriorate. For cleaning, always use rather lukewarm water, a mild cleaning agent and subsequent disinfection with alcohol, while avoiding extremely high temperatures.
