Product description
A glass bottle, amber vial, 28 mm, with a black ribbed pump dispenser, 150 ml, is a complete bottle and pump set for liquid cosmetic preparations dispensed in small amounts. Amber glass protects the contents from light and the pump allows the product to be dispensed without opening the bottle. The set is particularly suitable for body and face lotions, light emulsions, oil serums, massage and body oils, liquid soaps or micellar waters in a volume that is practical for both the bathroom and retail counter.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – amber glass attenuates light, helping to protect contents sensitive to oxidation, such as vegetable oils, vitamin serums or preparations containing essential oils.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are dispensed by pressing the pump, the bottle remains closed and neither air nor impurities from hands enter the preparation as they would with an open neck.
- Ribbed pump head – the rougher surface of the dispenser provides a good grip even with wet or oily hands, which you will appreciate with oils and products used in the shower.
- Inert glass – glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, does not absorb fragrance and does not stain, so it can be reused.
- Black and amber combination – dark glass with a black pump creates a cohesive look and works well with both light and dark labels.
How to work with the set
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 150 ml, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount for which the container is intended under normal filling. The total volume to the rim is the physical space up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides clearance for the dip tube and pump thread and for the slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim would overflow when the pump is screwed on.
The pump screws onto the PP28S neck and is tightened by hand. The dip tube is longer than the height of the bottle, so trim it before assembly so that it ends just above the bottom, preferably with an angled cut. A tube that is too long will bend at the bottom and the pump will draw less efficiently; one that is too short will leave part of the contents unused in the bottle.
The pump works reliably with contents that flow freely – with oils, lotions, light emulsions, serums and liquid soaps. A thick cream or high-viscosity gel is difficult to dispense with a pump; for such preparations choose a jar or pot.
At first use, press the pump several times until the tube fills with the contents. The dose per single press is stated in the specifications and can be used to set the recommended amount of product for the customer.
Suitable for products such as
- Body and face lotions – light O/W emulsions applied repeatedly in small doses.
- Oil serums and body oils – dark glass slows the yellowing of oils exposed to light.
- Liquid and micellar cleansing preparations – the pump allows precise dispensing into the palm.
- Massage oils and blends with essential oils – glass is resistant to essential oils; at higher concentrations we recommend verifying the behaviour of the plastic pump with the specific formulation.
- Liquid soaps and shower gels – with lower viscosity, which the pump draws without difficulty.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle and pump, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would introduce moisture into an anhydrous oil and unnecessary risk of microbial contamination into an emulsion.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Allow a hot emulsion to cool to at least lukewarm temperature before filling, otherwise the wall may crack. The plastic pump is also not intended for hot filling.
The bottle can be reused. Once empty, simply wash it with warm soapy water, flush the pump by drawing clean water through it and allow to dry. When changing the contents, for example from an oil to a water-based preparation, we recommend replacing the pump, as residual oil in the mechanism is difficult to remove.
The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The food contact certificate applies only to the glass vial on its own; with the pump, the set is intended exclusively for cosmetics.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the specifications, as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour and packaging performance with the specific formulation. Both a light label and direct printing work well on amber glass.
At the end of its life, separate the pump from the bottle. Glass belongs in glass collection, the polypropylene pump in plastics.
