Is this glass dropper bottle suitable for repeated use?

Yes, the glass dropper bottle can be reused if handled appropriately and if the packaging is not damaged. However, it is always necessary to follow basic hygiene principles – before each new filling, rinse the packaging thoroughly, clean it mechanically and then disinfect it with a suitable alcohol (for example using products available on Handymade, such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable). Only after it is completely dry is the dropper bottle ready for reuse.

How should I properly clean the glass bottle before the first filling?

Before the first filling, we recommend checking the packaging, removing any dust or manufacturing residues and rinsing it with a suitable cleaning agent intended for contact with cosmetics or laboratory equipment. Then rinse the bottle thoroughly with clean water, or distilled water, and disinfect it with 70–99 % alcohol. After applying the alcohol, let the packaging air dry at room temperature so that the alcohol completely evaporates before the product is filled in.

How should I correctly recycle the glass dropper bottle and aluminium cap if I no longer want to use it?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules and the information given in the product specifications. The glass part of the dropper bottle is usually disposed of in a container designated for glass, and it is advisable to rinse it to remove residual contents. The aluminium cap can be sorted into metal packaging collection if the collection system in your municipality allows it. Before disposal, it is recommended to empty the packaging as much as possible in order to minimise the amount of product residues in the recycling stream.

Glass is generally a very stable material even for products with a higher content of alcohol or essential oils, which is why it is often used for such formulations. However, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – fill a smaller volume of the desired product, leave it in the packaging for a certain time and monitor possible changes (discolouration, odour of the closure material, leakage). If everything remains unchanged, you can safely use the packaging also for larger batches.
