Product description
Amber glass medicine bottle with pump, 15 ml
A set for small quantities of products that need to be protected from light and dispensed precisely: an amber glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml and a plastic pump with a glossy black and gold finish and a smoky overcap. Amber glass reduces light transmission, so it is particularly suitable for contents that lose effectiveness in light: facial serums, oil serums with vitamins, vegetable oils prone to oxidation or concentrates with active ingredients. The pump delivers a small, roughly equal amount with each press. Concentrated products are therefore dispensed precisely, and the contents are not scooped out with fingers or poured out through the neck. The smoky overcap covers the pump head, protects it from dust and prevents accidental pressing during transport.
The small volume makes this set suitable for trial batches of a new formulation, samples for customers and products that are used up drop by drop.
What it is suitable for
- Facial serums – water-based, gel and oil serums with lower viscosity pass through the pump without problems. A small dose corresponds to the usual amount for a single use.
- Facial and hair oils – dark glass slows down changes caused by light. With oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, yellowing or a change of scent therefore appears later.
- Concentrates of active ingredients – products with vitamin C, retinoids or plant extracts, where precise and hygienic dispensing matters.
- Light emulsions and fluids – liquid milks and eye fluids that can be pressed out of the pump without much effort.
Dispensing and filling
One press of the pump delivers approximately 0.14 ml, an amount suitable for the eye area or for a single application of serum to the face. The pump dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first fitting, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom, otherwise it will bend in the bottle and will not draw correctly.
Nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. Brimful capacity, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and the pump body and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The medicine bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck when the pump is screwed on.
The pump works best with liquid to slightly viscous products. With thicker creams or gels of high viscosity, we recommend checking before filling a larger batch that the pump head dispenses them reliably and that the dip tube does not clog.
After filling and fitting the pump, press the pump head several times without dispensing until the dip tube fills and the first dose appears. This “priming” is normal with a new pump.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash and rinse the medicine bottle and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then let it dry completely with the neck facing down. Rinse the pump with the same alcohol and pump it several times so that the alcohol passes through the whole mechanism.
- Glass and heat – let the contents cool to room temperature before filling. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well, and a hot phase poured into cold packaging may crack it.
- Plastic parts and essential oils – the pump is made of polypropylene (PP), other plastics and aluminium. With products containing a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking after several weeks that the operation of the pump and the appearance of the plastic have not changed.
- Reuse – the glass medicine bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The pump is harder to clean. Residues of oil or emulsion in the dip tube and mechanism cannot always be removed completely, so it is safer to use a new one when changing the formulation.
- Suitability for cosmetics – the glass medicine bottle is suitable for contact with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements. We do not have such a declaration available for the pump.
- Recycling – the empty medicine bottle belongs in glass recycling. The pump is made of several materials, so unscrew it before disposal and hand it over separately.
The set is not intended for food or drinks. Use it for the cosmetic products it is designed for.
