Product description

This blue glass bottle with a capacity of 15 ml and a black dropper is used for packaging small quantities of liquid preparations that are dispensed drop by drop. Blue glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, so light-sensitive contents stay in their original condition longer than in a clear container. The dropper lets you take exactly as much as you need, without pouring and without your fingers touching the contents.

The set is supplied as one piece. The pharmaceutical bottle with an 18 mm neck and the dropper fit together, so you do not need to choose them separately. The black matte head with a glossy stripe distinguishes the packaging from ordinary all-black or white droppers, which is useful for your own brand or a gift set.

Suitable uses

  • Facial and oil serums – a small amount is applied drop by drop directly onto the palm or skin.
  • Essential oil blends – concentrated fragrance blends are diluted drop by drop, and blue glass slows their ageing in light.
  • Alcohol-based preparations – glass does not react with alcohol, and the dropper makes precise dispensing into the finished product easier.
  • Samples and trial batches – when testing a new recipe, it is enough to fill 15 ml rather than a whole retail bottle.

Filling and dispensing

The bottle has a nominal volume of 15 ml, which is the amount it is intended for in normal filling. The total brim-full volume is larger and can be found in the parameters. The difference between the two values provides a reserve for the dropper tube immersed in the contents and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not up to the neck.

After filling, screw on the dropper and turn the bottle upside down over a paper towel. If the contents are filled to the brim or the thread does not tighten properly, this shows immediately rather than only in the shipment to your customer.

Dispensing is done by squeezing the bulb, immersing the tube in the contents and releasing it slowly. Thin oils and serums are drawn in smoothly. Thicker oils are drawn in more slowly and the drop is larger, which should be taken into account in the dispensing instructions.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash and disinfect the bottle and the dropper and let them dry completely. For the dropper, draw the solution through the tube as well.
  • Glass and heat – pour in the contents only after they have cooled, as a sudden temperature change can damage the glass.
  • Dropper materials – the dropper combines polypropylene, glass and silicone. With undiluted essential oils, solvents or a high proportion of alcohol, check the tightness and the behaviour of the silicone and plastic parts with your specific formulation before sale.
  • Suitability for cosmetics – the dropper has a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products, and the document is provided with the product. The bottle itself does not have such a declaration. The set is not approved for contact with food.
  • Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, the set can be used again. Before refilling, check that the silicone part keeps its shape and that the dropper still draws in liquid.
  • Other closures – other closures with the same neck type stated in the parameters also fit the bottle. You can find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range; if you make your own combination, check the tightness.

The bottle is made of glass and the dropper of three different materials. Before recycling, unscrew the dropper and sort it separately from the glass bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue glass of the bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass reduces light transmission and protects light-sensitive contents better than clear glass. It is therefore suitable for oils, serums with active ingredients and essential oil blends, which lose their effect or fragrance faster in light. Blue glass does not guarantee complete darkness, so store the bottle away from direct sunlight.
How many ml can be filled into a 15 ml bottle with a dropper?
Fill 15 ml, which is the nominal volume of the bottle. The total brim-full volume is higher, but the reserve above the nominal volume is intended for the immersed dropper tube and the expansion of the contents in warm conditions. If you filled it to the brim, the contents would be pushed out through the thread when the dropper is screwed on.
Can the bottle with a dropper be used repeatedly?
Yes, the set can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. The glass can be washed without restrictions; the dropper needs to be rinsed through the tube as well and left to dry. For the silicone part, check that it has not softened or changed shape because of the previous contents, as it would no longer draw in liquid correctly.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based preparations?
The glass bottle does not react with them; for the dropper, we recommend a test with your specific formulation. The dropper combines polypropylene, glass and silicone. With undiluted essential oils or a high proportion of alcohol, check the tightness of the thread and the condition of the silicone part after a few days before you use the packaging for sale.
How do you dispense a thicker oil with the dropper?
Thick oil is drawn in more slowly and the drop is larger than with a thin serum. Squeeze the bulb before immersing the tube, release it slowly and wait until the tube fills. With very viscous oils or butters in a liquid state, the dropper may not draw in a sufficient amount, in which case a different type of closure is more suitable.
