Product description

A blue plastic bottle with a capacity of 200 ml and a matte black cap is used for decanting liquid cosmetics that are dispensed by pouring: hydrosols, facial toners, micellar water, body and massage oils, liquid soap or shampoo. The bottle is made of PET, so it is light and unbreakable, which you will appreciate in the bathroom, when travelling and when sending finished products to customers. The cap with a 24/410 thread closes the bottle simply by screwing on, and the matte black finish matches the deep blue colour of the bottle. Both parts of the set are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set includes

  • Bottle 200 ml, blue PET – cylindrical shape with a 24/410 neck, supplied without closure.
  • Cap 24/410, matte black PP – screw closure without a pump. The contents are poured out after unscrewing the cap, which suits products that are used in larger amounts at a time.

What it is suitable for

  • Hydrosols and toners – water-based products that are poured onto a cotton pad or into the palm.
  • Massage and body oils – unbreakable packaging is safer than glass for oils in the bathroom.
  • Liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel – the 200 ml volume corresponds to a common household pack or a trial batch.
  • Make-up removing and cleansing waters – they are poured directly, without a pump that thicker ingredients could clog.

If your product needs to be dispensed in drops or sprayed, you will find other closures and ready-made combinations for the same neck type in our range. When combining a bottle and closure yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Nominal volume and filling

The value of 200 ml is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The physical volume up to the brim of the neck is slightly larger. This difference provides a reserve for the cap, any pump or sprayer, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled to the brim, the contents are pushed out through the thread when the bottle is closed and the cap does not seal properly.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the neck and in the thread is the most common cause of early spoilage of water-based products.

Good to know

  • Food contact – only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact. The cap does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
  • Temperature – the packaging is intended for storage at 5–30 °C. Let emulsions, infusions and soap bases cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Aggressive chemicals – the bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals, for example solvents. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend testing the behaviour of the packaging on a small sample first.
  • Tightness – the cap is intended for a 24/410 screw neck. For liquid products that will be transported or posted, check the tightness after screwing on, using one piece laid on its side.
  • Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, both the bottle and the cap can be used again. When changing the contents, for example from oil to a water-based toner, thorough degreasing is essential.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene, so separate them before disposal and sort them as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

How much liquid fits into a plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 200 ml?
The bottle is designed to be filled with 200 ml, although slightly more fits up to the neck. The space above the nominal volume is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it to the brim, the contents get into the thread when the bottle is closed and the cap will not seal properly.
Can the 200 ml plastic bottle with a black cap be used for food?
The set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the blue PET bottle has a certificate for direct food contact; the 24/410 cap does not. The bottle and cap set is therefore intended for cosmetic products. For homemade syrups or oils you would need a closure that also has a food-contact certificate.
Is the blue PET bottle suitable for oils and alcohol-based toners?
Yes, the bottle is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, which includes ordinary cosmetic oils and toners. The restriction applies to aggressive chemicals and solvents, to which the packaging should not be exposed according to the storage instructions. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend filling one bottle first and observing whether the plastic changes shape or surface.
Can I use a pump or sprayer with the 24/410 bottle instead of the cap?
Yes, the 24/410 neck is a widely used size, and other closures with the same neck type, for example a pump or a mini trigger sprayer, also fit the bottle. For thicker products, check in advance whether the pump can handle the viscosity. We recommend testing the tightness and the dispensing with your specific formulation before you fill the entire batch.
How do I wash the plastic bottle and cap before reuse?
Wash both parts in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse them thoroughly and disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Then leave them open to dry completely, especially the thread and the inside of the cap, where water remains longest. After oils, repeat the degreasing, otherwise the oil residue will transfer into the new water-based product and reduce its stability.
