Product description

White plastic bottle, 24/410, matte black cap, 300 ml is a ready-made bottle and closure set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic preparations dispensed by pouring from the bottle. The white opaque PET bottle conceals the contents from view and limits light exposure, which benefits preparations with more sensitive ingredients. The matte black screw cap with 24/410 thread gives the packaging a simple, neutral look that lets the label stand out.

The 300 ml volume and durable plastic make this set particularly suited for body milks, shampoos and conditioners, shower gels, massage oils and tonics. These are preparations used in the bathroom, so the packaging must withstand drops, humidity and frequent opening.

Why choose this set

  • Lightweight and unbreakable – The PET bottle weighs a fraction of glass and will not break if dropped in the bathroom or during shipping, making it suitable for mail-order use.
  • Opaque white wall – the contents are not visible and light reaches them only to a limited extent; suitable for preparations with vegetable oils, extracts or coloured ingredients that change in light.
  • Screw cap 24/410 – seals the neck tightly and opens and closes easily; the matte black surface looks understated and contrasts well with the white bottle.
  • Suitable for cosmetics – both the bottle and cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; declarations of conformity are available with the product.
  • One neck, multiple dispensing options – the 24/410 neck is a widely used standard, so the cap can later be replaced with another closure of the same thread from the Handymade range.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of the bottle is 300 ml. This is the quantity the packaging is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is larger, representing the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the headspace for the closure and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, so that the preparation does not get pushed out after screwing on the cap. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Bottle and cap dimensions can be found in the product parameters.

Suitable for products such as

  • Body milks and thinner balms – preparations with a consistency that can be comfortably poured from the bottle into the palm.
  • Shampoos, conditioners and shower gels – surfactant-based preparations intended for use with water and humidity in the bathroom.
  • Massage, body and hair oils – PET tolerates common vegetable oils well.
  • Tonics, facial waters and hair rinses – water-based and alcohol-based preparations dispensed into the palm or onto a cotton pad.
  • Liquid hand soaps – mild soap solutions made in-house.

How to work with the set

Before first filling, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would dilute the preparation and put a strain on the preservative system.

PET is not designed for hot filling. Allow emulsions, gels and oils to cool first to approximately room temperature before pouring them in. At high temperatures the bottle wall may deform.

Screw the cap on firmly by hand. Over-tightening will not improve the seal and may damage the thread.

When combining the bottle with a different closure of the same 24/410 neck size, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation, especially with thinner oils and alcohol-based preparations.

Good to know

The food-contact certification applies separately to the White plastic bottle, 24/410, without closure, 300 ml. The matte black cap does not carry this certification, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. For homemade syrups, kitchen oils or herbal infusions, choose a bottle with a closure approved for food contact.

PET tolerates water, alcohol at standard concentrations and vegetable oils well. For preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, citrus terpenes or solvents, we recommend testing on a single bottle and monitoring for haziness, softening of the wall or a change in the scent of the contents after a few weeks.

Aggressive chemicals, strong acids and bases, or concentrated solvents are not suitable for PET bottles. The packaging is designed for cosmetic preparations within a normal pH range.

Both the bottle and cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. After surfactant-based preparations, rinsing is sufficient; oil residues require warm water with detergent. A cap with a damaged thread is best replaced to avoid leakage. The PET bottle and PP cap are commonly recyclable; simply separate them and rinse before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white 300 ml plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, partially. The white opaque PET wall transmits significantly less light than clear plastic, so it slows changes in colour and scent of light-sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils or extracts. It is not a complete light barrier, however, so do not leave a filled bottle in direct sunlight.
Can the 24/410 bottle be combined with a closure other than the cap?
Yes, the 24/410 neck is a widely used standard and closures with the same thread type, available in the Handymade range alongside ready-made combinations, will fit it. When putting together your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with the specific preparation, as behaviour varies depending on the viscosity and composition of the contents.
How much preparation fits in the 300 ml bottle?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 300 ml and is filled to that amount. The total volume to the brim is larger; the difference provides headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Filling to the brim would cause the contents to be pushed out when closing and leakage with temperature changes.
Is the set of a white bottle with a black cap suitable for food use?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The food-contact certification applies separately to the white PET bottle; the matte black cap does not carry it. For homemade syrups, kitchen oils or infusions, we therefore recommend pairing the bottle with a closure approved for food contact.
Can I pour a hot emulsion into the PET bottle?
No, it is recommended to fill only with a cooled preparation. PET deforms at higher temperatures and the wall loses its shape, so allow emulsions, gels and oils to cool to approximately room temperature before filling. Filling at a lower temperature also preserves the preservative and fragrance components, which evaporate at high temperatures.
