Product description

The glass bottle with a flat top and a matte black cap is a ready-made 100 ml set: fill it, close it and use it without searching for a suitable closure. The amber glass bottle dims light and thus helps protect contents that quickly lose quality in the light: plant and essential oils, oil serums, tinctures, alcohol extracts or facial toners. The screw-on plastic cap closes the bottle with a simple tightening, so the set is suited to products dosed by pouring or measuring, not by dropping or spraying.

The whole set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds certification for direct contact with food; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Why choose this set

  • Protection from light – amber glass transmits less light than clear glass, which slows the oxidation of oils and the fading of coloured extracts. For products with essential or unsaturated plant oils, this is a practical advantage.
  • Glass takes on no scents or dyes – after washing, the bottle can be used for a different content without any smell of the previous product lingering in it. This sets it apart from plastic bottles, which gradually "absorb" essential oils.
  • Ready-made combination – the cap with a 24/410 thread matches the bottle neck, so there is no need to check whether the closure fits. The matte black colour of the cap looks understated on amber glass.
  • Practical volume – 100 ml corresponds to a standard pack of massage or facial oil, a toner or a larger pack of serum.

What the set is suited for

It works best with liquid products dosed into the palm or poured out: massage and body oils, oil serums for skin and hair, blends of carrier oils with essential oils, herbal tinctures, alcohol-based lotions and toners, oil herbal extracts. Thanks to the glass, it is also suitable for contents with a higher proportion of alcohol, which could strain plastic packaging over the long term.

It is less suitable for thick creams and butters, which are hard to remove through the narrower neck, and for products that need precise drop-by-drop dosing or spraying. For those, the Handymade range offers ready-made combinations of the same bottle with other closures that share the same neck type.

Filling and volume

With this packaging you will come across two volume figures. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling, i.e. 100 ml. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents as the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When overfilled, the packaging pushes part of the contents into the thread as the cap is tightened and may leak when warmed.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil product shortens its shelf life and promotes the growth of microorganisms.

Good to know

Glass and heat. The bottle withstands warm filling, but not a sudden change in temperature. Do not pour hot contents into cold glass and do not place a filled bottle directly on a hot surface. Let blends prepared hot cool to a lukewarm temperature before filling.

Cap and essential oils. The cap is made of polypropylene, which is resistant to both plant oils and alcohol. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the seal on the first piece with the specific recipe before you fill the whole batch.

Tightening. The cap only needs to be tightened by hand. Excessive force when screwing it on will not improve the seal but can damage the cap thread.

Label. The straight cylindrical body of the bottle provides a continuous surface for a label without any fold. You will find the bottle dimensions in the product parameters.

Reuse and recycling. The bottle can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. When discarded, the glass and the plastic cap are separated and sorted individually by material.

The set is intended for cosmetic products. The food certification applies only to the glass bottle on its own and does not cover the cap, so do not use the set as a whole for food.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 100 ml amber glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass dims the passage of light and slows the light-induced oxidation of the contents. However, it does not block light completely, so filled bottles should be stored away from direct sun. For oils and extracts sensitive to light, amber glass is a markedly better choice than clear glass.
Is the set of a glass bottle with a black cap suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for contact with food. Certification for direct contact with food applies only to the glass bottle on its own; the plastic cap does not have it. For homemade oils, syrups or extracts, therefore choose a bottle with a closure that holds food certification, and use this set for cosmetics.
How much should I pour into a bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml?
The bottle is filled with 100 ml, that is to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The space above this level is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents as the temperature changes. If you fill the bottle up to the neck, the contents reach the thread when the cap is tightened and leaking is a risk.
Can the glass bottle with a flat top be used for tinctures and alcohol-based toners?
Yes, glass is suitable for alcohol-based products because alcohol does not affect it and does not leach any substances from it. The polypropylene cap is resistant to ethanol. For contents with a high alcohol concentration, we recommend storing the bottle upright and checking the seal of the closure on the first piece.
How should I prepare the glass bottle for refilling?
It is enough to wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. After washing, glass retains no scent of the previous contents. Wash the cap the same way and check the thread before use. If it is damaged, replace it with a new one of the same neck type.
What closure fits the glass bottle with a 24/410 thread?
Every closure with a 24/410 thread, listed in the parameters as Thread type, fits the bottle. In this set it is the matte black plastic cap. The Handymade range also offers ready-made combinations of the same bottle with other closures of the same neck type. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.
